The No. 21 Auburn Tigers (12-3, 2-1 SEC), one of the NCAA’s top shooting defenses, travel to face the Ole Miss Rebels (8-7, 0-3 SEC) on Tuesday. Auburn topped the Arkansas Razorbacks 72-59 at Neville Arena on Saturday. Wendell Green Jr. had a standout performance with 19 points.
The Tigers are fourth in the Southeastern Conference. Ole Miss dropped their fourth in a row on Saturday at Humphrey Coliseum, falling to the Mississippi State Bulldogs 64-54. Matthew Murrell led the team in scoring in the losing effort with 19 points. The Rebels fell to 14th in the Southeastern Conference.
The teams are meeting for the only time this season. Auburn won both matchups between the teams last season, the last of which was a 77-64 triumph at Neville Arena in February 2022. Zep Jasper and Jabari Smith led the Tigers with 15 points apiece, while Walker Kessler contributed 12 points, 10 rebounds, and eight blocks. Jarkel Joiner had 13 points in defeat.
Green Jr. and Johni Broome, averaging 12.7 and 12.0 points per game, respectively, have led the Tigers in scoring this season. Broome also has grabbed 8.2 rebounds per game, while Green Jr. has dished 3.6 assists per game.Murrell’s 14.7 points per game have powered the Rebels on offense.
Murrell also has doled out 2.4 assists per game. Myles Burns has posted 6.7 rebounds per game.
