The Oklahoma Sooners (11-6, 2-3 Big 12) will try to slow down one of the country’s top scoring teams when they welcome the No. 21 Baylor Bears (13-5, 3-3 Big 12) on Saturday. Baylor topped the Texas Tech Red Raiders 81-74 at United Supermarkets Arena on Tuesday, their third consecutive win. Keyonte George was a top performer with 27 points.
The Bears remain sixth in the Big 12 Conference. Oklahoma won a close one on Saturday at Lloyd Noble Center, beating the West Virginia Mountaineers 77-76. Grant Sherfield had 22 points to lead the team. The Sooners fell to seventh in the Big 12 Conference.
This is the only meeting of the season between the teams. They last met in the Big 12 Conference Tourney quarterfinals when the Sooners eliminated the Bears with a 72-67 victory at T-Mobile Center in March 2022. Baylor won both regular season games between the teams last season, the last of which was a 67-72 triumph at T-Mobile Center in March 2022.
Jacob Groves led the Sooners with 15 points and nine rebounds. James Akinjo had 16 points and six rebounds in defeat. The Bears have been led this season by George, who is averaging 17.7 points per game. Meanwhile, Jalen Bridges is grabbing 5.3 rebounds per game, and Adam Flagler is dishing 4.7 assists.
Sherfield’s 17.6 points per game have powered the Sooners on offense. Sherfield also has recorded 3.5 assists per game. Tanner Groves has collected 7.1 rebounds per game.
The Bears are averaging 80.6 points per game, ranking as one of the top scoring offenses in the nation (28th).The Sooners have had success in recent meetings between the teams at Lloyd Noble Center, winning five of the last 10.
