The Northwestern Wildcats (18-7, 9-5 Big 10) will try to slow down one of the NCAA’s top shooting teams when they welcome the No. 14 Indiana Hoosiers (18-7, 9-5 Big 10) on Wednesday. Indiana squeaked by the Michigan Wolverines 62-61 at Crisler Center on Saturday, their third win in a row.
Trayce Jackson-Davis was the key player with 28 points and 11 rebounds. The Hoosiers dropped to third in the Big Ten Conference. Northwestern won their third in a row on Sunday at Welsh-Ryan Arena, beating the Purdue Boilermakers 64-58. Boo Buie had 26 points and three blocks to lead the team.
The Wildcats remain second in the Big Ten Conference. This marks the last meeting of the season between the teams. Northwestern will be seeking a season sweep against Indiana after triumphing in the only previous matchup 84-83 at Simon Skjodt Assembly Hall on January 8. Jalen Hood-Schifino led all players in scoring with 33 points in defeat.
Buie had 26 points for the Wildcats, while Chase Audige added 19 points, eight assists, and six steals. The Hoosiers have been led this season by Jackson-Davis, who is averaging 18.5 points per game. Jackson-Davis also has grabbed 10.4 rebounds per game. Meanwhile, Hood-Schifino is dishing 3.7 assists.
Buie and Audige have supplied much of the Wildcats’ offense, averaging 16.6 and 15.1 points per game, respectively. Buie also has distributed 4.4 assists per game. Matthew Nicholson has collected 5.8 rebounds per game.
