The Wake Forest Demon Deacons (17-9, 9-6 ACC) will try to slow down one of the NCAA’s top scoring teams when they are on the road to face the No. 15 Miami (FL) Hurricanes (21-5, 12-4 ACC) on Saturday.
Wake Forest squeaked by the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets 71-70 at Lawrence Joel Veterans Memorial Coliseum on Saturday, their third win in a row. Cameron Hildreth led the way with 19 points. The Demon Deacons fell to eighth in the Atlantic Coast Conference.
Miami (FL) won their fifth in a row on Monday at Dean E. Smith Center, beating the North Carolina Tar Heels 80-72. Jordan Miller had 24 points and 11 rebounds, carrying the team. The Hurricanes are third in the Atlantic Coast Conference. The teams are meeting for the only time this season.
Miami (FL) won both games between the teams last season, the last of which was a 76-72 triumph at Lawrence Joel Veterans Memorial Coliseum in February 2022. Kameron McGusty led the Hurricanes with 22 points.
Alondes Williams had 25 points in defeat. Tyree Appleby is averaging 18.6 points per game to lead the Demon Deacons in scoring this season. Appleby also has dished 6.2 assists per game, sixth-most in the country.
Meanwhile, Andrew Carr is grabbing 6.0 rebounds. Isaiah Wong (16.0 ppg), Miller (15.0), and Norchad Omier (13.8) have supplied much of the Hurricanes’ offense.
Omier also has averaged 9.9 rebounds per game, while Wong has distributed 3.5 assists per game. The Hurricanes are one of the top scoring offenses in the nation, ranking 28th with 79.0 points per game.
