The Kansas Jayhawks (26-6, 14-5 Big 12) face off against the Iowa State Cyclones (19-12, 10-9 Big 12) Friday at T-Mobile Center in the Big 12 Conference Tourney semifinals.
Iowa State topped the Baylor Bears 78-72 at T-Mobile Center yesterday in the quarterfinals. Gabe Kalscheur was the key player with 24 points. Kansas got the win in the quarterfinals yesterday at T-Mobile Center, beating the West Virginia Mountaineers 78-61. Jalen Wilson had 22 points and 11 rebounds, leading the team.
Iowa State and Kansas split their two matchups this season. The Cyclones triumphed in the last meeting, beating the Jayhawks 68-53 at James H. Hilton Coliseum on February 4.
Jaren Holmes led the Cyclones with 15 points, while Tamin Lipsey added 9 points, 10 assists, and eight rebounds. Wilson had 26 points and nine rebounds in the loss.
Holmes and Kalscheur, averaging 13.3 and 13.1 points per game, respectively, have led the Cyclones in scoring this season. Meanwhile, Osun Osunniyi is grabbing 4.0 rebounds per game, and Lipsey is dishing 4.6 assists. Wilson (19.8 ppg) has been the primary provider of the Jayhawks’ offense.
Wilson also has posted 8.4 rebounds per game. Dajuan Harris Jr. has tallied 6.3 assists per game. The Cyclones rank as one of the top scoring defenses in the country, 20th-best with 62.5 points per game allowed.
