The No. 21 Indiana Hoosiers (16-7, 7-5 Big 10), one of the NCAA’s top shooting teams, host the Rutgers Scarlet Knights (16-7, 8-4 Big 10) on Tuesday.
Rutgers beat the Michigan State Spartans 61-55 at Madison Square Garden on Saturday. With 17 points, Paul Mulcahy was the top scorer. Clifford Omoruyi was another key contributor with 15 points, 12 rebounds, and three blocks.
The Scarlet Knights remain second in the Big Ten Conference. Indiana won their fourth home game in a row on Saturday at Simon Skjodt Assembly Hall, beating the Purdue Boilermakers 79-74. Trayce Jackson-Davis had 25 points, seven rebounds, and five blocks, carrying the team. The Hoosiers are third in the Big Ten Conference.
It’s the last meeting of the season between the teams. After taking the only earlier season game against Indiana 63-48 at Jersey Mike’s Arena in December 2022, their sixth straight head-to-head victory, Rutgers will be aiming for a season sweep. Caleb McConnell led the Scarlet Knights with 16 points and 10 rebounds.
Miller Kopp had 21 points in the losing effort. Omoruyi and Cam Spencer, averaging 13.4 and 12.8 points per game, respectively, have led the Scarlet Knights in scoring this season. Omoruyi also has grabbed 10.0 rebounds per game. Meanwhile, Mulcahy is dishing 4.0 assists per game.
Jackson-Davis (18.0 ppg) has supplied much of the Hoosiers’ offense. Jackson-Davis also has averaged 10.0 rebounds per game. Jalen Hood-Schifino has doled out 3.7 assists per game. The Hoosiers rank as one of the nation’s most accurate teams from the field, fifth-best at 49.9%.
In the last 10 games, Rutgers is 7-3 with an average margin of +4.8 (68.2-63.4). For the season, the Scarlet Knights are averaging 71.0 points per game, compared to 58.4 for opponents.
