The Gonzaga Bulldogs (26-5, 14-2 WCC) take on the San Francisco Dons (20-13, 9-9 WCC) Monday at Orleans Arena in the West Coast Conference Tourney semifinals. San Francisco defeated the Santa Clara Broncos 93-87 in double overtime at Orleans Arena on Saturday in the quarterfinals.
Khalil Shabazz was a top performer with 38 points and seven rebounds. Gonzaga won their seventh in a row in dominant fashion on Wednesday at McCarthey Athletic Center, beating the Chicago State Cougars 104-65 in their regular season finale.
Drew Timme had 17 points to top the scoresheet. With 10 points and seven assists, Anton Watson also produced a strong performance. Gonzaga was unbeaten in the regular season against San Francisco, taking both of their meetings, the most recent of which was a 99-81 victory at McCarthey Athletic Center on February 9, their 26th straight head-to-head victory.
Rasir Bolton led the Bulldogs with 23 points and six assists. Shabazz had 25 points and seven rebounds in the loss. Shabazz and Tyrell Roberts, averaging 17.5 and 16.2 points per game, respectively, have led the Dons in scoring this season. Shabazz also is contributing 5.4 rebounds and 3.0 assists per game.
Timme has supplied much of the Bulldogs’ offense, averaging 21.1 points per game. Timme also has averaged 7.4 rebounds per game. Nolan Hickman has doled out 3.2 assists per game. The Bulldogs rank as the top scoring offense in the country with 88.0 points per game.
San Francisco is 6-4 in the last 10 games with an average margin of -1.2 (79.4-80.6). For the season, the Dons are averaging 76.3 points per game, compared to 73.1 for opponents. Gonzaga has gone 9-1 over the last 10, scoring 91.0 points per game on average while allowing 73.5 (+17.5 margin).
