The Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets (7-6, 0-3 ACC) will try to slow down one of the top scoring teams in the Atlantic Coast Conference when they welcome the No. 12 Miami (FL) Hurricanes (13-1, 4-0 ACC) on Wednesday.
Miami (FL) topped the Notre Dame Fighting Irish 76-65 at Purcell Pavilion at the Joyce Center on Friday, their ninth consecutive win. With 21 points, Nijel Pack was the top scorer. Norchad Omier chipped in with 18 points, seven rebounds, and three blocks. The Hurricanes slipped to second in the Atlantic Coast Conference.
Georgia Tech lost in blowout fashion on Saturday at McCamish Pavilion, falling to the Virginia Cavaliers 74-56. Miles Kelly had 20 points in the losing effort, carrying the team. The Yellow Jackets are 14th in the Atlantic Coast Conference.
This is the only meeting of the season between the teams. Miami (FL) won both games between the teams last season, the last of which was a 79-70 triumph at Watsco Center in February 2022. Sam Waardenburg led the Hurricanes with 19 points, eight rebounds, and five assists.
Michael Devoe had 20 points and seven rebounds in the losing effort. Isaiah Wong and Jordan Miller, averaging 17.1 and 14.6 points per game, respectively, are leading the Hurricanes in scoring this season. Wong also has dished 4.4 assists per game. Meanwhile, Omier is grabbing 9.5 rebounds per game. Kelly (14.1 ppg) has supplied much of the Yellow Jackets’ offense.
Jalon Moore is pulling down 5.8 rebounds per game, and Deivon Smith is distributing 3.1 assists. With 77.9 points per game, the Hurricanes are one of the highest-scoring offenses in the conference (3rd).Miami (FL) is 9-1 in the last 10 games with an average margin of +7.8 (78.3-70.5).
