North Carolina was edged out by the Alabama Crimson Tide 103-101 in double overtime at Veterans Memorial Coliseum on Sunday. Caleb Love had a standout performance in the losing effort with 34 points and nine rebounds.
Indiana won their sixth in a row in dominant fashion on Friday at Simon Skjodt Assembly Hall, beating the Jackson State Tigers 90-51. Tamar Bates had 22 points to lead the team. The Hoosiers triumphed in the last meeting between the teams 76-67 at Simon Skjodt Assembly Hall in November 2016.
The Tar Heels have been led this season by Love, who is averaging 20.0 points per game. Meanwhile, Armando Bacot is grabbing 11.3 rebounds per game, and RJ Davis is dishing 3.4 assists. Trayce Jackson-Davis’ 15.7 points per game have powered the Hoosiers on offense.
Jackson-Davis also has pulled down 6.7 rebounds per game. Xavier Johnson has doled out 4.8 assists per game. The Hoosiers rank as one of the highest-scoring offenses in the NCAA, eighth-best with 88.8 points per game.
