Syracuse @ #11 Gonzaga – 2:30pm ET

Tony Battalio

Syracuse comes into this game after losing a blowout to Tennessee in the opening game of the tournament and now they will be looking to bounce back here on Tuesday afternoon against Gonzaga. They will face their second consecutive top 15 team in the country as they look for a huge résumé building victory while looking to get back into the column as well. The loss to Tennessee on Monday afternoon was their first loss of the regular season, and they will be looking to avoid going on a two game losing streak with a quality win against a Gonzaga team that found themselves on the losing end of a game on Monday night as well. They will need a much better performance from Judah Mintz in this game after he was limited to 14 points in a rough shooting performance in the opening game of the tournament.

Gonzaga will be looking to bounce back and pick up a quality victory over Syracuse here on Tuesday afternoon as they look to get right back into the win column after their double digit loss to Purdue on Monday. They are off to a quality start this season despite the loss to Purdue as it is hardly a loss that you can dismiss as embarrassing as Purdue as one of the top teams in the country this season. Gonzaga is a young team with plenty of potential this season, and they will be looking to get momentum, rolling in the right direction once again with a quality victory here in this one against Syracuse to keep their Maui hopes of finishing in at least fifth place. That is exactly what I expect out of Gonzaga in this game as I look for them to bounce back and pick up the victory over Syracuse here on Tuesday afternoon.

SportsTips’ NCAAB Pick:

Gonzaga -12.5 (-110)

#24 James Madison @ Southern Illinois – 6pm ET

Tony Battalio

James Madison is having an incredible start to the regular season and they will be looking to keep the momentum rolling with another quality performance here on Tuesday night on the road against Southern Illinois. They opened up their season with a massive upset of Michigan State, and they have not looked back as they come into this one still undefeated, and they are finally ranked inside of the top 25 of the country. They will be looking to further establish themselves as a top 25 team in the country with another quality victory here in this one, as they look to build up as much momentum as possible throughout the remainder of their nonconference schedule, and the month of November. They come into this game with four consecutive wins to open up the season, and they will be looking to start with a fifth consecutive victory here on Tuesday night on the road.

Southern Illinois is having a solid start to the season themselves as they come into this game undefeated looking to upset James Madison and get a massive momentum boosting victory here on Tuesday night in Cancun. Xavier Johnson has been a 20 points per game scorer for them and he will need every bit of those 20 points if Southern Illinois wants to pick up a victory over James Madison here on Tuesday night in this tournament matchup. They come into this game with three rather comfortable victories to open up the season and this game likely won’t be as easy for them as they will have to pull out all the stops if they want to get a victory over a tough James Madison team here on Tuesday night. I expect this to be a close back-and-forth game between these two mid majors but in the end I do look for James Madison to come out on top and grab the win.

SportsTips’ NCAAB Pick:

James Madison -5.5 (-110)

La Salle @ #9 Duke – 7pm ET

Tony Battalio

La Salle is off to a quality start this season as they come into this game on Tuesday night against Duke undefeated. They will be looking to remain undefeated with an upset victory of Duke here on Tuesday night at Cameron Indoor Stadium as they look for a massive momentum boosting victory in the early part of the regular season. They have picked up three quality victories throughout their first four games of the regular season, but this will be their toughest test of the year by far when they face a top 10 team in the country on the road in one of the toughest environments in all of college basketball. They will need to play an efficient mistake, free game of basketball and make their shots down the court as well as get some key stops on the other end of the court if they want to pick up an upset victory over a tough Duke team.

Duke comes into this game still looking to rebound from their loss to Arizona earlier in the season and they will be looking to do so with a blowout victory here in this one on Tuesday night at home. Come into this game ranked ninth in the country and they will be looking for their fourth victory of the regular season here on Tuesday night at home as they look to rebuild as much momentum as possible and start picking up some blowout victories throughout the remainder of their nonconference schedule. Kyle Filipowski will have to continue putting up solid numbers if Duke wants to earn themselves another blowout victory here in this game on Tuesday night at home as his 19 points per game average has led the Blue Devils throughout their first four games of the regular season so far. That is exactly what I expect out of this game as I look for this game to be close throughout the early parts of the contest, but in the end, I look for Duke to pull away and cover the spread in the process.

SportsTips’ NCAAB Pick:

Duke -26.5 (-110)

#7 Tennessee @ #2 Purdue – 8pm ET

Tony Battalio

Tennessee comes into the second round tournament matchup after blowing out Syracuse in their opening round game on Monday afternoon. Now they will be looking to replicate that performance against a much tougher Purdue team here on Tuesday night as they look for a huge résumé building victory against a top two team in the country here in this one. Tennessee is a team that comes into this season with plenty of potential and as long as they remain healthy and consistent, they could compete for the SEC title and potentially make a deep tournament run as well. So far they have looked solid throughout their first handful of games this season, and they will be looking to keep the momentum rolling here in this one on Tuesday night, as they look a massive momentum, boosting victory that would carry them throughout the remainder of their nonconference schedule and give them one of the biggest wins of the season so far.

Purdue is off to a fantastic start this season and they are coming off of a ten point victory over Gonzaga in their opening game of the Maui Invitational. Now they will be looking to keep the momentum rolling and grab a second consecutive victory here on Tuesday night over Tennessee for one of the marquee victories of the early season schedule. They are arguably one of the best teams in the country this season and they were a team that was upset in the opening round of the NCAA tournament by a number 16 seed. That is something they will be looking to avoid this time around if they make it back to the NCAA tournament this season. It has been so far so good for Purdue throughout their first handful of games this season, and they will be looking to grab another quality victory here on Tuesday night in the second round of this tournament. That is exactly what I expect as I look for this to be a close and competitive game, but in the end I do look for Purdue to pull out the win.

SportsTips’ NCAAB Pick:

Purdue -3.5 (-105)

#1 Kansas @ #4 Marquette – 10:30pm ET

Tony Battalio

The number one team in the country is off to a very solid start throughout the early part of the regular season. They will be looking to keep the momentum rolling here on Tuesday night in the second round of this tournament matchup as they look too advanced to the finals of the Maui Invitational tournament. Kansas has looked solid throughout their first handful of games this season, and they will be looking for another quality victory and a really solid résumé building victory with a comfortable win here on Tuesday night in this second round matchup. Michigan transfer Hunter Dickinson has been the driving force behind their early season success and he will be looking to put up another quality performance here in this game on Tuesday night in the nightcap of tournament action.

The Marquette Golden Eagles come into this game after securing a first round victory in the Maui Invitational tournament against the UCLA Bruins. Now they will be looking to knock off the number one team in the country here on Tuesday night to secure themselves a spot in the finals of this tournament on Wednesday afternoon. They will be hoping they can avoid running out of gas after playing the late game on Monday night in the opening round of the tournament as they look to take down the number one team in the country here on Tuesday. It’ll certainly be no easy task to take down the Kansas Jayhawks, but they are more than capable of doing so as long as they play a clean and efficient game of basketball throughout the entirety of the contest. However, unfortunately, I just don’t see that happening as I look for the Kansas Jayhawks to take home the win in this one and book themselves a spot in the finals of this tournament.

SportsTips’ NCAAB Pick:

Kansas -4.5 (-110)
