The Florida State Seminoles (1-7) will try to overcome one of the nation’s top shooting defenses when they play host to the No. 5 Purdue Boilermakers (6-0) on Wednesday. Purdue dismantled the Duke Blue Devils 75-56 at Moda Center at the Rose Quarter on Sunday, their sixth win in a row.
With 21 points, 12 rebounds, and three assists, Zach Edey had a standout performance. Florida State dropped their third in a row on Sunday at State Farm Field House, falling to the Nebraska Cornhuskers 75-58. Matthew Cleveland had 17 points and six rebounds in defeat to lead the team.
This is the only meeting of the season between the teams. Purdue got the win in the only matchup between the teams last season 93-65 at Mackey Arena in November 2021. Jaden Ivey led the Boilermakers with 18 points and six rebounds. Caleb Mills had 22 points in the losing effort.
The Boilermakers have been led this season by Edey, who is averaging 21.7 points per game. Edey also has grabbed 12.0 rebounds per game, fifth-most in the NCAA. Meanwhile, Ethan Morton is dishing 5.2 assists.
Mills (12.6 ppg), Cam’Ron Fletcher (12.1), and Darin Green Jr. (11.4) have been the primary providers for the Seminoles on offense. Fletcher also has averaged 7.3 rebounds per game, while Mills has distributed 3.3 assists per game. The Boilermakers rank as one of the nation’s stingiest FG% defenses, holding foes to to a 27th-lowest rate of 37.3%.
