The No. 24 Duke Blue Devils (12-4, 3-2 ACC), one of the top scoring defenses in the Atlantic Coast Conference, welcome the Pittsburgh Panthers (11-5, 4-1 ACC) on Wednesday.
Pittsburgh was edged out by the Clemson Tigers 75-74 at Petersen Events Center on Saturday. Jamarius Burton had a standout performance in the losing effort with 28 points and six rebounds.
The Panthers are second in the Atlantic Coast Conference. Duke won a close one on Saturday at Silvio O. Conte Forum, beating the Boston College Eagles 65-64. Dariq Whitehead led the team in scoring with 18 points.
With 14 points and three blocks, Mark Mitchell also impressed. The Blue Devils slipped to seventh in the Atlantic Coast Conference. It’s the only meeting of the season between the teams. Duke took the only matchup between the teams last season 86-56 at Petersen Events Center in March 2022.
Trevor Keels led the Blue Devils with 27 points. John Hugley IV had 19 points in the loss. Blake Hinson and Burton, averaging 16.8 and 14.5 points per game, respectively, have led the Panthers in scoring this season. Hinson also has grabbed 6.9 rebounds per game. Meanwhile, Nelly Cummings is dishing 5.1 assists per game.
Kyle Filipowski (13.9 ppg) has powered the Blue Devils on offense. Filipowski also has posted 8.6 rebounds per game. Jeremy Roach has distributed 3.0 assists per game. The Blue Devils are one of the toughest scoring defenses in the conference, ranking second with 62.5 points per game allowed.
