The No. 16 Marquette Golden Eagles (16-5, 8-2 Big East), one of the NCAA’s top scoring teams, travel to face the DePaul Blue Demons (9-12, 3-7 Big East) on Saturday.
Marquette dominated the Seton Hall Pirates 74-53 at Prudential Center on Saturday. Kam Jones was the leading scorer with 22 points. Oso Ighodaro chipped in with 18 points. The Golden Eagles are second in the Big East Conference.
DePaul dropped their last game on Tuesday at Capital One Arena, falling to the Georgetown Hoyas 81-76. Umoja Gibson had 24 points in the losing effort, carrying the team.
The Blue Demons remain ninth in the Big East Conference. The teams are meeting for the only time this season. Marquette and DePaul split their matchups last season, winning one apiece.
The Blue Demons got the win in the last meeting 91-80 at Wintrust Arena in March 2022. Javon Freeman-Liberty led the Blue Demons with 26 points and nine rebounds.
Justin Lewis had 26 points and 10 rebounds in the loss.Jones and Olivier-Maxence Prosper, averaging 16.4 and 14.0 points per game, respectively, are leading the Golden Eagles in scoring this season.
Meanwhile, Tyler Kolek is dishing 7.8 assists per game, third-most in the NCAA, and Ighodaro is grabbing 6.3 rebounds per game.Gibson and Javan Johnson have been the primary providers for the Blue Demons on offense, averaging 15.8 and 15.1 points per game, respectively. Gibson also has distributed 5.0 assists per game. Eral Penn has pulled down 7.6 rebounds per game.
The Golden Eagles are one of the top scoring offenses in the NCAA, ranking 16th with 82.3 points per game. In the last 10 games, Marquette is 8-2 with an average margin of +8.6 (82.4-73.8).
