The Saint Louis Billikens (5-1) will try to overcome one of the NCAA’s top scoring defenses when they head to face the No. 13 Auburn Tigers (6-0) on Sunday.Saint Louis outplayed the Paul Quinn Tigers 96-53 at Chaifetz Arena on Wednesday.
Gibson Jimerson led the way with 16 points. Auburn won their sixth in a row in a close one on Wednesday at Hard Rock Hotel Riviera Maya, beating the Northwestern Wildcats 43-42. K.D. Johnson scored 12 points to lead the team in scoring.
The teams are meeting for the only time this season. Auburn got the win in the only game between the teams last season 74-70 at Chaifetz Arena in December 2021. Walker Kessler led the Tigers with 19 points, nine rebounds, and four blocks. Terrence Hargrove Jr. had 17 points and seven rebounds in the loss.
The Billikens have been led this season by Jimerson (14.7 ppg), Javonte Perkins (13.7), and Yuri Collins (12.8). Collins also has dished 10.7 assists per game, most in the NCAA. Meanwhile, Francis Okoro is grabbing 9.5 rebounds per game. Wendell Green Jr.’s 12.0 points per game have powered the Tigers on offense.
Green Jr. also has doled out 4.2 assists per game. Johni Broome has averaged 7.3 rebounds per game. The Tigers are one of the top scoring defenses in the country, ranking 23rd with 56.3 points per game allowed.
