Week 15 is in the books and we have updated our NFL MVP Power Rankings! We have plenty of movement including a new number one, two new players on the list and one quarterback dropping eighth spots despite winning…
Check out if we have your favorite player on our NFL MVP Power Rankings below!
1. Patrick Mahomes, quarterback, Kansas City Chiefs
Odds to win MVP: -500
Previous rank: 4
Patrick Mahomes is back where he should be. Admittedly, the Kansas City Chiefs are not playing the best football at the moment but Mahomes just led them to a victory over the Saints, in New Orleans, in what many believe was a Super Bowl preview.
Mahomes threw 26/47 for 254 yards, three touchdowns and no picks in the win, but it wasn’t an easy day for the reigning Super Bowl MVP.
The 55% completion percentage was his second lowest of the season, the 254 yards was the first time he had thrown under 300 yards in the last seven games and he had a fumble in the fourth quarter that let the Saints get back into the game.
With that being said, 254 yards and three touchdowns is very good and we are comparing him to his own elevated standards, which is a lot higher than we hold everyone else against.
The Chiefs have lost just one game all year and just need to beat the Falcons and the Chargers to lock up the top seed in the AFC. Mahomes is now a runaway favorite in the odds and seems to have secured his second MVP in the last three seasons.
The Chiefs have now faced a top-five defense on nine occasions with Patrick Mahomes as their starter, per @EliasSports.
In those games, they are 9-0 and averaging 29.0 points per game. Pretty decent.

2. Aaron Rodgers, quarterback, Green Bay Packers
Odds to win MVP: +325
Previous rank: 1
Despite beating the Carolina Panthers by eight points at home and Green Bay scoring touchdowns on their opening three drives, Aaron Rodgers has slipped one spot after a lackluster performance.
Prior to this week, Rodgers was gaining momentum to overtake Mahomes as favorite for the MVP but he threw just 20/29 for 143 yards, his lowest of the season, and just one touchdown, his second lowest of the season. He was sacked five times for a total loss of 47 yards, both of which are season highs.
It wasn’t all bad, as Green Bay’s main man did rush for 26 yards, had a rushing touchdown for the second straight week and became the first quarterback in NFL history to have a 40+ touchdown season three times.
After a rocky middle of the season, Rodgers has steadied the ship for Green Bay, winning four straight and six of their last seven to put them a game clear on top of the NFC.
Rodgers is sixth in the league for passing yards and first for passing touchdowns while also being tied for the least amount of interceptions of all QBs in the top 30 for touchdowns thrown. The Packers need just one more win to lock up top place in the NFC and if Rodgers is able to beat both the Titans and Bears whilst continuing his near perfect throwing, this race might not be over quite yet.

3. Josh Allen, quarterback, Buffalo Bills
Odds to win MVP: +1800
Previous rank: 9
Josh Allen is leading the way for what might be the hottest team in the NFL over the last two months. On Saturday afternoon, Allen and the Bills did whatever they wanted against the Broncos in Denver, scoring 48 points and only punting once for the entire game.
Allen had 392 total yards (359 passing & 33 rushing) and four total touchdowns (two through the air and two on the ground) against a defense that kept Mahomes to just one touchdown and the Chiefs to 22 points two weeks earlier.
The win over the Broncos meant that the Buffalo Bills have won the AFC East for the first time since 1995 and it is thanks to Allen and the way he has taken control of the offense.
The third-year QB is fourth in passing yards and six in passing touchdowns whilst also running for eight touchdowns, which is third amongst quarterbacks.

4. Derrick Henry, running back, Tennessee Titans
Odds to win MVP: +6600
Previous rank: 3
Derrick Henry continues to distance himself as the best running back in the game. In the Titans’ massive 46-25 victory over the Detroit Lions, Henry ran for 147 yards and a touchdown.
Henry continues to create issues for opposing defenses by moving the chains and opening up play action for Ryan Tannehill to thrive.
On a massive 3rd & 1 to start the fourth quarter with the Titans only up by six points, Henry broke free for a 33-yard run all the way to Detroit’s three yard line that set up a Tannehill rushing touchdown. Henry then rushed straight up the middle on the two point conversion to extend the lead to 14 points.
He leads the league in rushing yards with 1,679 yards, 195 more than second, is tied for first in rushing touchdowns with 15 and is a big reason why the Titans are 10-4 and currently leading the AFC South.
Derrick Henry is the first RB in 12 years with 1,650 rush yards & 15 rush TD in a season…

5. Baker Mayfield, quarterback, Cleveland Browns
Odds to win MVP: +20000
Previous rank: Off The Board
Baker Mayfield makes it onto the SportsTips NFL MVP Power Rankings for the first time this season. Cleveland has won five of their last six, including a win over the Titans and Baker has been a big reason behind that.
Since week seven, Baker is sixth in TD/INT ratio and sixth in passer rating and on Sunday Night Football against a good Giants defense who had a chance to reclaim top spot of the NFC East, Baker was exceptional.
He went 27/32 for 297 yards, two touchdowns and no interceptions against the Giants and kept control of the game for the full 60 minutes. His 84% completion percentage was his highest of the season and he was only sacked once during the game.
The Browns throw the ball at a rate 9% lower than the league average and have the third lowest pass rate in the NFL, often leaning on Nick Chubb and Kareem Hunt on the ground. But, week in and week out, Baker is still the most influential player on the side.
He has thrown just one pick in the last seven games and has had a big say in why the Browns are 10-4 on the season and just need to beat the Jets this week to lock in a playoff spot.

6. Kyler Murray, quarterback, Arizona Cardinals
Odds to win MVP: +15000
Previous rank: 7
Kyler Murray, despite looking flustered at times, went off against the Philadelphia Eagles. The young QB threw for 406 yards at a 75% completion rate with three touchdowns.
This was the Cardinals second straight win and it keeps them a game clear in seventh spot in the NFC. Murray was instrumental in the win, not just dominating the air but also rushing for a further 29 yards and a touchdown.
After a fumble on their first play and a punt on their second, Murray rushed for a touchdown and passed for another on their next two players to give the Cardinals a 16-0 lead in the second quarter.
With scores tied in the last quarter, Murray connected with his trusty wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins for a 20-yard touchdown to put the Cardinals up for good.
Murray is having an exceptional season and is the only quarterback with at least 10 passing touchdowns and 10 rushing touchdowns for the season. His 11 rushing touchdowns are tied for second most in the league and tied for most amongst quarterbacks.

7. Tom Brady, quarterback, Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Odds to win MVP: +15000
Previous rank: 8
A tale of two halves for Brady and the Bucs. The only reason he is eighth ahead of Lamar Jackson is because the Bucs are in the playoff picture currently and are essentially a lock to stay there. But this was not a good game.
The first two quarters saw the Bucs have the ball five times, with their longest drive being just 26-yards and the team punting four times and Brady taking a knee on their fifth to end the first half scoreless.
Brady then led the Buccaneers out of halftime to five straight drives resulting in a score to come back from 17-points down to win by four.
TB ended up throwing 31/45 for 390 yards, two touchdowns and no picks in the victory that leaves Tampa Bay needing just one more win to lock in a wildcard slot.
There has been plenty of talk of Brady having a down year but he is fourth in passing touchdowns and fifth in passing yards while leading Tampa Bay to their most wins since 2010.

8. Ryan Tannehill, quarterback, Tennessee Titans
Odds to win MVP: +25000
Previous rank: Off The Board
We have another first timer in the SportsTips NFL MVP Power Rankings with Ryan Tannehill finally getting on the board.
Often overlooked due to Derrick Henry’s incredible play, Tannehill is effective, efficient and exactly what this Titans team needs to keep ticking along and controlling ball games.
On Sunday against the Lions, Tannehill completed 21 of 27 passes for 273 yards, three touchdowns and no picks. This 78% completion rate was his second highest for the season and his quarterback rating of 145.8 was his best of the year.
Tannehill didn’t just do damage in the air, but also rushed for two touchdowns to give him five total for the day.
He has been in control this year and along with Henry has kept the Titans ahead of the Colts for top place in the AFC South. He has only thrown five interceptions, which is tied for second lowest in the league, while also being fifth in passing touchdowns and 14th in passing yards, but has the least attempts of all of those ahead of him.
Tennessee has the fourth lowest pass rate in the league and is 8% below the league average, but Tannehill just keeps getting the job done for the 10-4 Titans.

9. Lamar Jackson, quarterback, Baltimore Ravens
Odds to win MVP: Odds not available
Previous rank: 5
Lamar Jackson looks back to his MVP best in the last two weeks, with Baltimore getting two big wins and keeping their postseason hopes alive. His play against the Browns and the Jaguars has been a lot better than some people on the list ahead of him, but the Ravens are still on the outside looking in at the AFC playoff picture.
Coming in against a lackluster Jacksonville Jaguars, things didn’t start off as planned when Jackson threw an interception on the opening drive of the game. However the Ravens went on to score on the next four drives to go into halftime up 26-0.
Jackson ended the game throwing for 243 yards at 77% with three touchdowns, while running for a further 35 yards and a touchdown of his own.
Lamar’s running has been dynamic, especially in the last two weeks where the Ravens have scored a combined 87 points. The reigning MVP has the 12th most rushing yards in the league but is leading all QBs in that area.
Jackson and the Ravens now have games against the Giants and Bengals and if they can win both, they need just the Dolphins, Browns or Colts to drop just one for them to sneak into the postseason.
Lamar Jackson went from 2019 MVP to missing the 2020 Pro Bowl, and I bet he couldn’t care less.
Lamar has individual awards. He wants something bigger. Since returning from Covid 3 wks ago, he’s recaptured his MVP form:
• 3 wins
• 10 TDs
• 766 yards
• 71% comp
• 120 QB RT— Sarah Ellison (@sgellison) December 22, 2020
10. Russell Wilson, quarterback, Seattle Seahawks
Odds to win MVP: +15000
Previous rank: 2
Yes, the Seahawks beat Washington in a game that some thought they might not, locking themselves into the playoffs in the process. But, Wilson did not look good and hasn’t been a serious MVP contender for the last seven weeks.
Wilson ended the game throwing 121 yards at a 66.67% completion rate with a touchdown and a pick. The 121 yards is Wilson’s lowest for the season and he has now thrown an interception in each of the last three games.
Russ’ interception in this one came in the fourth quarter and gave Washington an opportunity to get back into the game. Something that he won’t be able to do against better teams in the postseason.
Wilson is seventh for passing yards and second for passing touchdowns but he is also tied for second in interceptions thrown and has been sacked the third most of all QBs.
