The No. 16 Illinois Fighting Illini (4-1) welcome the Lindenwood Lions (2-4) Friday at State Farm Center. Lindenwood was edged out by the Western Carolina Catamounts 90-88 at The Legacy Center on Sunday.
Cam Burrell was the standout player in the loss with 24 points and seven rebounds. Illinois lost on Sunday at T-Mobile Arena, falling to the Virginia Cavaliers 70-61. Jayden Epps had 14 points in the loss to lead the team.
The Fighting Illini earned the win in the last meeting between the teams 117-65 at State Farm Center in November 2019. Ayo Dosunmu led the Fighting Illini with 24 points. TJ Crockett had 24 points in the losing effort.
Chris Childs and Kevin Caldwell Jr., averaging 16.5 and 15.2 points per game, respectively, have led the Lions in scoring this season. Caldwell Jr. also has dished 4.8 assists per game. Meanwhile, David Ware is grabbing 5.7 rebounds per game.
Terrence Shannon Jr. (21.2 ppg) has supplied much of the Fighting Illini’s offense. Shannon Jr. also has recorded 4.0 assists per game. Dain Dainja has pulled down 7.6 rebounds per game.
