The No. 25 UConn Huskies (3-0) will be out to build on their winning run when they play host to the Delaware State Hornets (1-3) on Sunday. Delaware State was beaten by the Columbia Lions 70-65 at Francis S. Levien Gymnasium on Wednesday, their third loss in a row away from home.
O’Koye Parker was the top scorer in defeat with 16 points. Brandon Stone was another standout performer with 14 points. UConn won their third in a row in dominant fashion on Tuesday at XL Center, beating the Buffalo Bulls 84-64. Tristen Newton had a triple double with 22 points, 11 assists, and 10 rebounds to lead the team.
Stone and Khyrie Staten, averaging 15.8 and 15.5 points per game, respectively, have led the Hornets in scoring early this season. Stone also has grabbed 7.8 rebounds per game. Meanwhile, Martaz Robinson is dishing 4.0 assists per game.
Adama Sanogo has supplied much of the Huskies’ offense, averaging 19.0 points per game. Sanogo also has pulled down 9.0 rebounds per game. Hassan Diarra has distributed 5.0 assists per game.
