Read on below to find out UFC Best Bets for this weekend’s UFC 285!

Jon Jones  vs Ciryl Gane  – Heavyweight Title Fight

This is perhaps one of the most anticipated fights of the entire year and perhaps one of the most anticipated UFC fights ever. As two of the most feared fighters in the entire company face off for the vacant heavyweight championship here at UFC 285 on Saturday. Jon Jones will also be making his triumphant return to the UFC after a few years away from the octagon which adds an entirely new level of suspense and intrigue to the matchup. It has been over 1000 days since Jon Jones stepped in the octagon and during that time Cyril Gane  has gone on an absolute tear throughout the UFC.

This could be a hard fight to call as it could arguably go either way, especially because you don’t know what to expect from Jon Jones, who is making his debut at the heavyweight level. However, I think I have to go with a set of the underdog in this one, and take Ciryl Gane to win the vacant UFC heavyweight championship. I don’t see either one of these fighters being knocked out in this one as I look for this one to go the distance, but in the end I have gained winning the fight by split decision over a returning Jon Jones.

SportsTips’ UFC Pick:

Gane (+150), by DEC (+350)

Valentina Shevchenko © vs Alexa Grasso – Women’s Flyweight  Title Fight

Valentina Shevchenko is one of the most dominant UFC women’s champions of all time. However, she might be facing her toughest opponent yet in  Alexa Grasso in this fight on Saturday evening. Shevchenko has 23 victories in 26 career professional fights and Grasso has 15 victories in 18 career professional fights. Both of them come into this fight, sporting three losses on their record. Shevchenko has picked up a victory in her last nine fights, seven of which have been title defenses. She has not lost in nearly 6 years and her last loss came in the bantamweight division before moving back to flyweight.

Grosso has picked up four victories in a row and picked up a win in five of her last six fights. She has never been knocked out in her professional, mixed martial arts career, and her only loss that didn’t come by decision was a submission loss all the way back in 2018. She has not lost a fight since 2019 and that loss was to Carla Esparza. She is one of the better competitors that Shevchenko has faced during her lengthy rain, and she could potentially even dethrone Valentina Shevchenko in this fight. However, in reality, I don’t see this happening, although I do see this fight going the full five round distance, as I think Grosso will shock everybody and push Shevchenko to the limit.

SportsTips’ UFC Pick:

Shevchenko (-900), by DEC (+175)

Cody Garbrandt vs Trevin Jones – Bantamweight

Jon Jones is not the only massive return during this UFC 285 card as Cody Garbrandt will be making his long-awaited return to the octagon, after several opponents and previous fights have been canceled. He hasn’t had the best of luck lately as he has lost his last handful of fights and had a victory here and there sprinkled in together. In fact, it might be fair to say that if he loses this fight against Trevin Jones, he might end up losing his spot in the UFC. He is a former UFC bantamweight champion and he attempted to make the drop down to flyweight but it did not go well for him and his last fight as he was knocked out by Kai Kara France. Now he returns to Bantamweight, looking to get a victory under his belt, and making his climb back towards the top of the mountain that he once stood on.

Trevin Jones has lost his last three fights in a row, and he is desperate for a victory. He is really in the same situation as Cody Garbrandt because if he loses his fight, he could potentially be cut from the UFC as well. In 23 career professional fights he has only managed to rack up 12 victories to his nine losses and one no contest. He comes into this fight as the underdog against the returning Cody Garbrandt, which has to give him a chip on his shoulder and extra motivation as he is expected to lose to a guy that has not fought in over two years. However, I expect that to be the case as I have Cody Garbrandt knocking out, Trevin Jones in this fight, and picking up the victory.

SportsTips’ UFC Pick:

Garbrandt (-175), By KO (+110)
