Ashleigh Barty (1) vs Karolina Plíšková (8)
Australian Ashleigh Barty will meet Karolina Plíšková in the final here at Wimbledon. Both women are just one win away from Wimbledon glory, so who will be victorious, and who will let their nerves get the better of them? Barty’s performance so far at Wimbledon has been nothing short of clinical, she has only dropped one set (in round 1) throughout the entire tournament.
Her semi final match against the former Wimbledon champion, Kerber, had got to be one of her best, and she won in straight sets, 6-3, 7-6(3). This will be Barty’s second Grand Slam Final ever, after she won at Roland Garros in 2019. Barty is hoping to become the first Australian to become champion at Wimbledon since 1980, when Evonne Goolagong Cawley was crowned champion. Her form this her has been fantastic, and there are no signs of her playing through an injury, like we saw at the French Open.
Ashleigh Barty is bidding to become the 1st No.1 seed to win #Wimbledon since Serena Williams in 2016.
She is also aiming to become the 4th junior Wimbledon champion in the Open Era to win the Venus Rosewater Dish (Ann Jones, Martina Hingis, Amelie Mauresmo). pic.twitter.com/jjMG50zRFR

Like Barty, Plíšková has also only dropped one set, and that was in her semi final match against the second seed Sabalenka. Before her semi final match, Plíšková hadn’t even been pushed to a tie breaker in a set! It was a good match for Plíšková to show that she could come back from a set down against an in form player. This will also be Plíšková’s second time playing in a Grand Slam Final, her lost to Kerber at the US Open in 2016.
The pair have played each other a few times before, and Barty leads the head-to-head 5-2, and their most recent match came earlier this year at the Stuttgart Open, where Barty won in three sets. The style of play is very contrasting for these women. Barty has a wide range of skills, but will always return to her slice backhand to help get her out of trouble. Whereas, Plíšková’s powerful groundstrokes will help her get quick and easy points. It is Barty’s variety and defence that will help her get the win here, but not without a fight from Plíšková
Tennis Pick: Set Betting – Ashleigh Barty 2-1 (+250)
