The 2022 French Open rolls on and SportsTips.com are previewing both of the women’s semifinal matches. Read below to check out our tennis picks for the games over the semifinal round!

We are now into the semifinal at the French Open and boy these two games are going to be epic. The world #1 Świątek is through to the semis, after she knocked out American Pegula in straight sets. Her opponent will be Russian Kasatkina, who got through the quarterfinals in two tight sets. The only unseeded woman left in the draw is Trevisan, who defeated young Canadian, Fernandez, in three sets. Trevisan’s opponent is none other than American, Gauff, who defeated compatriot, Stephens, in straight sets.

Enjoy our free tennis picks and predictions for each round of the 2022 French Open tournament.

Iga Świątek (1) vs Daria Kasatkina (20)

After so many upsets in the women’s side of the draw, Iga Świątek has remained focused and consistent, and now she just has one more opponent, Daria Kasatkina, to overcome to book her place in the championship game. Świątek has only dropped one set so far in this tournament, and the majority of the other sets, she won comfortably. Kasatkina is yet to drop a set so far in the French Open, and she has defeated the 28th and 29th seeds to make her way into the final four.

Iga Swiatek continued her great run of 2022, defeating 11 seed Jessica Pegula in the quarterfinals on Wednesday. It was another dominant performance that only took 89 minutes and saw her win in straight sets for the fourth time in five matches. This is Iga’s second run to the semis at the French Open, with her last appearance coming back in 2020 when she won the whole thing. Daria Kasatkina of Russia defeated her compatriot Veronika Kudermetova in the quarterfinals 6-4, 7-6 to make it to her first Grand Slam semifinal of her career. Kasatkina has actually done something that Iga hasn’t in this tournament, and that is make this run to the semis without dropping a set.

This will be the fifth career meeting between these two with them also meeting three times earlier this season. Swiatek has won every meeting in 2022 and is yet again the heavy favorite to do so again here. The entire match will be on Iga’s terms like most of her matches and I’m expecting her to come through victorious yet again. Kasatkina doesn’t really have the game to trouble the world number one and will just be reliant on Iga to have a bad day full of errors. I’m not counting on that to happen so it should be another routine win.

Jeffery’s French Open Pick: Set Betting – Swiatek 2-0 (-290)

Marko Nadin

Women tennis has not seen such a dominance like Iga Swiatek currently has. The 20-year-old made it to the top of the WTA standings this year and is currently on a 33-game winning streak. The last time Swiatek lost a match was in February in Dubai and she hasn’t lost a set in 20 of her last 22 matches. Swiatek comes off a 6-3, 6-2 win over Jessica Pegula and previously defeated Qinwen Zheng, Danka Kovinic, Alison Riske and Lesya Tsurenko. Swiatek is 42-3 for the season and 14-0 on clay. She has won 5 titles so far this season. Swiatek leads Kasatkina 3-1 in the head-to-head matches.

Daria Kasatkina is currently ranked 20th in the WTA rankings with her career-best being in 10th place. The 25-year-old is 23-10 for the season including 12-3 on clay. She has been playing great so far at the French Open, not losing a set. On her way to the semifinals, Kasatkina defeated Veronika Kudermetova, Rebecca Sramkova, Fernanda Contreras Gomez, Shelby Rodgers and Camila Giorgi. Kasatkina has defeated Swiatek in their first match against each other, 4-6, 6-0, 6-1 in 2021 in Eastbourne.

Marko’s French Open Pick: Moneyline – Swiatek (-1050)

Jack Hartman

Iga Swiatek’s march to this year’s French Open stayed on track following a convincing victory in the quarterfinals over plucky American Jessica Pegula. Swiatek is on a stunning 33 match unbeaten streak and is looking to win a sixth consecutive title following her wins at Doha, Indian Wells, Miami, Stuttgart and Rome. The world number one has only dropped one set en route to the semifinals and will start this match as the heavy favorite.

Standing in Swiatek’s way is the Russian Daria Kasatkina. The twentieth seed, Kasatkina is enjoying her best ever run at a Grand Slam with this being her first ever semifinal. A tricky opponent, Kasatkina has flown under the radar throughout the tournament and is yet to drop a set. As consistent as they come, Kasatkina has the game perfectly suited to clay and will pose Swiatek significant problems. The two have played four times, including twice this year. Swiatek leads the head to head series 3-1 and will be incredibly confident of reaching her second career Grand Slam final.

Jack’s French Open Pick: Set Betting – Swiatek 2-0 (-290)

Martina Trevisan vs Coco Gauff (18)

Unseeded Italian Martina Trevisan will face off against young Coco Gauff for a spot in the championship game. Trevisan is playing out of her skin at the moment, and up until the quarterfinals, she hadn’t dropped a set. In her previous match, against Fernandez, she dropped the second set in a tiebreak, after having match point. Gauff is also on a tear at the moment, and she is yet to drop a set in her first five matches.

Jeffery Thomas

Coco Gauff has appeared to finally have made that step up in her young career and is through to her first Grand Slam semifinals here at the 2022 French Open. Her path here has been one-way traffic as the 18-year old still has not dropped a set. In the quarterfinals she took out her compatriot Sloane Stephens 7-5, 6-2, avenging the loss she took to Sloane at the 2021 US Open. Now she shifts her focus to Italian Martina Trevisan who has come out of nowhere the past few weeks to play some of the best tennis of her career. The 28-year old won her first career title in the days leading up to the French Open and has carried that momentum to a run here to the semifinals. She took out another teen sensation in 2021 US Open finalist Leylah Fernandez last round.

Trevisan and Gauff have only met once before, coincidentally at this very tournament. Trevisan won in three sets at the 2020 French Open en route to a quarterfinal appearance. Gauff was just 16 at the time and was still rounding her game into form, especially her serve. She’s much improved now and comes in as the heavy favorite, rightfully so. I think Gauff has a much more dynamic game and is less prone to errors than the Italian. Trevisan doesn’t have much variety and instead relies heavily on hitting winners from the baseline, which will not be too successful in this matchup against an athlete as good as Gauff. I like Coco to get through this one and get to her first Grand Slam final of her young career.

Jeffery’s French Open Pick: Set Betting – Gauff 2-0 (-115)

Marko Nadin

Both Martina Trevisan and Coco Gauff will play in the semifinals of a major for the first time in their careers. These two players met at the second round in Roland Garros two years ago with Trevisan winning 4-6, 6-2, 7-5 in their only game so far. Trevisan is ranked at no. 59 which is her career-best ranking. The 28-year-old is 20-10 for the season and 13-4 on clay. The Italian is coming off a 2-1 win over Laylah Fernandez in the quarterfinal after she defeated Harriet Dart, Magda Ninette, Daria Saville and Aliaksandra Sasnovich without losing a set in the first three rounds.

Coco Gauff is the youngest player left in the tournament being 18 years old. Gauff has made it to this point of the tournament without dropping a set and is coming off a 7-5, 6-2 win over Sloane Stephens in the quarterfinals. She is yet to lose a set in the tournament after she also swept Elise Mertens, Kaia Kanepi, Alison Van Uytvanck and Rebecca Marino. Gauff is 23rd in the WTA standings compared to no. 59 where Trvisan stands. The American is 19-10 for the season and 9-3 on clay.

Marko’s French Open Pick: Moneyline – Gauff (-310)

Jack Hartman

Ever since Coco Gauff emerged on Tour as a bright eyed 15 year old, she has looked like a Grand Slam champion in waiting. Some may be surprised that it’s taken Gauff this long to make her breakthrough and reach her first ever Grand Slam semifinal but she looks ready for it now. As athletic as they come, Gauff has looked like a natural on the clay and has dominated all of her previous opponents with her superior movement and huge ball striking. Gauff has shown few signs of nerves during the tournament and has reached her first semifinal without dropping a single set. As long as she can handle the occasion, she will start as a huge favorite against Italian Martina Trevisan. Trevisan is this year’s surprise package and the world number 59 is enjoying the best tournament of her career.

Trevisan is a true clay court specialist, and has used all of her savvy and experience to battle through to her first ever Grand Slam semifinal. Trevisan has enjoyed a kind draw to get to this stage of the tournament, but she took her form up a level to beat world number 18 Leylah Annie Fernandez. A three set battle that twisted and turned on several occasions, it was Trevisan that held her nerve and scraped through the final set 6-3. Trevisan will test the nerves of Gauff through her solid and varied play. The Italian will have fierce support and will relish her underdog status. Whilst she will make life difficult for Gauff, the American should just have a bit too much quality for the Italian.

Jack’s French Open Pick: Set Betting – Gauff 2-0 (-115)
