This will be the second game of back-to-back games for the Washington Capitals here on Wednesday night after facing off with the Toronto Maple Leafs on Tuesday. This will be the first and only game of a quick one game road trip before they return home following this contest against New Jersey. The road has not been a kind place for Washington throughout their first couple weeks of the season as they have dropped both games on the road in Canada and they will still be searching for their first road victory of the year when they head to New Jersey for this game on Wednesday night against the Devils.

This will also be the second game of back-to-back games for the New Jersey Devils, and they will be looking to add to the Washington Capitals struggles on the road with a victory here at home on Wednesday night. Weirdly enough New Jersey faced a team that has already beat Washington at home this season, as they faced off with the Montréal Canadiens on Tuesday night on the road in Canada. This game for New Jersey will be the first game of a three game homestand to wrap up the month of October and they will be looking to get it off to a quality start with a victory here on Wednesday night against the Washington Capitals.
