Buffalo Sabres @ Philadelphia Flyers – 7PM ET

Tony Battalio

It has been a slow start to the season for the Buffalo Sabres and they will be looking to pick up a crucial much-needed victory here on Wednesday night on the road in Philadelphia. This will be the 10th game of the season for Buffalo and they come into this game with only four victories and eight points through their first nine games of the year when they could’ve earned a maximum of 18 points. Buffalo has been one of the worst teams in the league, and they will be looking to finally break out of that spell of being a bottom feeder in the conference and that starts with picking up victories on the road against teams like Philadelphia, where tough crowd environments are always expected.

The Philadelphia Flyers will be looking for a solid victory at home against the Buffalo Sabres here on Wednesday night as they look to string some wins together and get some momentum rolling on this brand new year. Philadelphia is off to a similar type of start as Buffalo is this season as they have picked up four victories through their first nine games of the year but one of their losses came in overtime so they did earn a much-needed extra point. They will be looking to grab a victory here in this one at home and protect their home ice against another lower tier team within the conference. That is exactly what I expect as I look for the Philadelphia Flyers to pick up the victory in this game against the Buffalo Sabres here on Wednesday night.

SportsTips’ NHL Pick:

Philadelphia Flyers (-110)

Dallas Stars @ Calgary Flames – 8:30PM ET

Tony Battalio

The Dallas Stars come into this game, looking to grab a crucial victory on the road north of the border in Calgary here on Wednesday night. Dallas is off to a fantastic start this season as they come into this game with five victories through their first seven games of the year and 11 hard earned points out of a possible 14. They will be looking to keep the momentum rolling here in this one with a tough road victory in a hostile environment as they further establish themselves as a contender within the Western Conference. Dallas is coming off of a victory against Columbus and they have won four out of their last five on the season and they will be looking to make it a second consecutive victory here in this one on Wednesday night on the road in the first game of their road trip.

The Calgary Flames are off to a mediocre start this season, and they will be looking to get the momentum rolling here in this one on Wednesday night against Dallas at home. Calgary comes into this game having lost seven out of their first nine games on the season which is unusual for a team that has been highly competitive throughout the last several years. They will need to start stringing some victories together throughout the early part of the year, otherwise they will risk falling farther and farther out of the playoff range by the time the All-Star break gets here. Calgary is currently on a massive losing streak as they have lost their last five games of the season and they will be looking to recover and get a much-needed victory in this one. Unfortunately for them I don’t see that happening as I look for Dallas to pick up the wind here in this one on Wednesday night.

SportsTips’ NHL Pick:

Dallas Stars (-135)

St.Louis Blues @ Colorado Avalanche – 9:30PM ET

Tony Battalio

St. Louis will be looking for a huge victory on the road against Colorado here on Wednesday night as they look to grab a major momentum boosting victory and what feels like a must win road game for them. They are off to a relatively average start this season as they have picked up three victories, and their first seven games of the year, and they will be looking for a fourth victory here in this one to get their record back to even through their first eight games of the season. They will have to be a lot more productive on the offensive end of the ice as they are only averaging about one goal per game this season and that is not going to get the job done if they want to pick up victories and become a contender to win the Stanley Cup this season.

Colorado comes into this game off to a quality start this season and they will be looking to add to their solid start with another victory here at home on Wednesday night against St. Louis. They have picked up six out of their first eight games of the season, and they will be looking for their seventh victory of the year here in this one inside of friendly confines, where they have been so tough to beat over the last several years. Colorado is in a bit of a slump at the moment as they are coming off back-to-back four to nothing losses to Pittsburgh and Buffalo on the road, and they will be looking to snap their two game losing streak with a victory here in this one at home. That is exactly what I expect as I look for Colorado to bounce back and grab the win in this game on Wednesday night.

SportsTips’ NHL Pick:

Colorado Avalanche -1.5 (-105)

Arizona Coyotes @ Anaheim Ducks – 10PM ET

Tony Battalio

The Arizona Coyotes are off to a mediocre start this season, but they are trending upwards from how they have performed over the last several years. Usually before the season starts, you can almost consider the Arizona Coyotes to be out of the playoff race but they look like they have some potential heading into the early parts of this season. They will be looking to pick up a solid victory on the road here in Anaheim on Wednesday night as they look to improve upon their record of four and four through their first eight games of the season. They are coming off of a massive blowout victory against the Chicago Blackhawks in their previous game where they put eight goals on the board and they will be hoping they could partially replicate that performance here on Wednesday night in Anaheim.

Anaheim comes into this game with a similar start of the season as Arizona and they will be looking for a crucial victory at home here on Wednesday night to get the momentum rolling on the season. They come into this game with five victories, to their name on the season, and they will be looking for a sixth victory here on Wednesday night as they look to improve upon a performance that had them as one of the worst three teams in the league last season. They had a very slow start to the year, but they have rattled off a 4 game-winning street coming into this one. They will be looking to grab a fifth consecutive victory here on Wednesday night to keep the momentum rolling.  I expect them to do just that and pick up the victory here in this game on Wednesday night against Arizona.
