Nashville Predators @ Tampa Bay Lightning – 5:30PM ET

Tony Battalio

The Nashville Predators finished the regular season last year with a winning record after they picked up 42 victories in 82 games. They will be looking to get this brand new season off to a fresh start against a team that has won a pair of Stanley Cups in recent memory and nearly won three consecutive Stanley Cups over the past four seasons. Despite the winning record last season, they played in the hardest division in the entire league, and they missed out on the playoffs after finishing in fifth place out of eight teams in their division. They will be helping that they can improve upon their winning record from last season and open up this new campaign with a victory here on Tuesday night against Tampa Bay on the road.

Tampa Bay comes into this brand new season, looking to improve upon last year and get themselves back in a position to compete for a championship after they failed at winning a third consecutive Stanley Cup last season. They are still one of the top teams in the league coming into this season and they still have a solid roster that could get them all the way to another championship as long as they remain healthy and consistent throughout the regular season. They finished the season last year with 46 victories, and then third place of the division and they will be looking to improve upon that here this season and get off to a solid start in game number one of the season. They are a very tough team to beat at home and I expect that to be the case here on Tuesday night as well as I look for Tampa Bay to pick up the victory over Nashville.

Chicago Blackhawks @ Pittsburgh Penguins – 8PM ET

Tony Battalio

It was a rough season last year for the Chicago Blackhawks and they have a lot of things to improve upon if they want to be competitive this season, and it starts with grabbing a victory over the Pittsburgh Penguins here on Tuesday night on the road. Chicago finished as one of the worst teams in the league last season which gave them the number one overall pick and they drafted a guy who everybody thinks is going to be a future superstar in the National Hockey League, as they picked Connor Bedard with the number one overall pick. He will be hoping to make an immediate impact in the opening game of the season here against Pittsburgh on Tuesday night as well.

The Pittsburgh Penguins come into this season with plenty of unanswered questions after their finished last season that saw them miss out on the Stanley Cup playoffs. They finished with a winning record and regulation last season but they had 11 overtime losses that led them to finishing the year two games under .500 with 40 victories and 42 losses to their name. They have an ageing core that they will have to figure out what to do with throughout the course of the season, and a bunch of young guys to work into the rotation as well if they want to find success this year. I expect them to have a solid performance in the opening game of the season here on Tuesday night at home and pick up the victory over Chicago.

Seattle Kraken @ Vegas Golden Knights – 10:30PM ET

Tony Battalio

The Seattle Kraken have finally put it all together, and they put together a successful season last year and they will be looking to capitalize off of that momentum in the opening game of the season against the defending Stanley Cup champions on the road. These are the two newest expansion franchises in The League, and both of them are starting to find success however, it is still one more than the other as Vegas has had a lot more success, and Seattle will be looking to live up to that success over the next several seasons. Last season Seattle finished the year with a record of 46-28-8, which was good enough to earn them the top wildcard spot in the Western Conference. They will be looking to make an even deeper playoff run this time around.

The Vegas Golden Knights finally reached the top of the mountain and won the Stanley Cup last season, and now they will be looking to kick off this campaign with a victory over the Seattle Kraken on Tuesday night at home when they drop the banner. It was a long climb to the top for the second most recent expansion franchise in the league after making it all the way to the Stanley Cup finals in their inaugural season and losing. They finally got back and won the Stanley Cup last season. I expect them to pick up where they left off and grab a victory here on opening night against the Seattle Kraken to celebrate dropping their Stanley Cup title banner here on Tuesday evening at home.
