Philadelphia Flyers @ Washington Capitals – 6:00 PM ET

Philadelphia defeated Washington on Sunday afternoon, 7-4. The Flyers scored three goals in the final period to break open a tie score. Scott Laughton scored the hat trick and Sean Couturier added two goals and an assist.

The victory keeps Philadelphia atop the East Division standings at 8-3-2. They have scored 46 goals while allowing 41. Carter Hart allowed four goals in the game, but will likely not be the starter for this contest. Brian Elliott looks to be between the pipes.

He has a 2.19 GAA and a .929 save percentage. The Flyers have five players with at least 11 points, led by James van Riemsdyk with 18. He also leads the team in goals (7) and assist (11).

Washington got two goals and two assists from Alex Ovechkin, but it was not enough to stop Philadelphia as Vitek Vanacek allowed four goals on 14 shots. Washington is now 6-3-3, in third place in the East.

They have scored 44 goals while allowing 45. Clearly goaltending has been a major issue for this team. Craig Anderson was signed prior to Sunday’s contest and allowed two goals on eight shots after replacing Vanecek.

He may get the start on Tuesday. The Capitals have four players with at least 11 points, led by Niklaus Backstrom who has 17. He also leads the team in goals (6) and assists (11).

NHL Pick – Philadelphia Flyers (-120)
Spread Pick – Washington Capitals +1.5 (-349)
Total Goals Pick – Over 6.0 (-120)

Pittsburgh Penguins @ New Jersey Devils – Postponed

*This game has been postponed due to COVID-19 health and safety protocols, a new date has not been confirmed at this time*

Detroit Red Wings @ Florida Panthers – 7:00 PM ET

Detroit defeated Florida on Sunday, 4-1. The Red Wings got an outstanding performance out of goaltender Tom Greiss who stopped 36 of 37 shots. Givani Smith had a goal and an assist to lead the Red Wings offense.

Detroit is now 3-8-2. They have scored 26 goals while allowing 44, giving them a -18 goal differential, second worst in the NHL. The start by Greiss was just what the doctor ordered, and he will likely be back in net on Tuesday.

The Detroit netminder has a 3.00 GAA and a .903 save percentage. Goal scoring has been a major issue for this team as they are averaging 2.00 goals per game. Dylan Larkin leads the team in scoring with nine points.

With the loss to Detroit, Florida drops to 6-1-2. The loss on Sunday was their first regulation loss of the season. They have scored 30 goals while allowing 27. Chris Driedger has a 1.97 GAA and a .937 save percentage in five starts the season.

He gave up three goals on Sunday, but Detroit should not count on that in this game. Jonathan Huberdeau leads the team in points with 12. Carter Verhaeghe is the team leader in goals with six.

NHL Pick – Florida Panthers (-213)
Spread Pick – Florida Panthers -1.5 (+103)
Total Goals Pick – Under 5.5 (+100)

Edmonton Oilers @ Ottawa Senators – 7:00 PM ET

Edmonton lost to Calgary on Saturday, 6-4. Connor McDavid had a goal and an assist for Edmonton. Edmonton and Ottawa play each other on Monday night, but this article was written prior to the conclusion of that game.

Edmonton is now 6-7-0. They have scored 46 goals while allowing 49. Mikko Koskinen continues to be a workhorse, starting 12 games for the team, posting a 3.55 GAA and a .889 save percentage.

With back-to-back contests, it is likely he will be off on Tuesday, but his backup has not played any minutes this season. McDavid leads the team with nine goals, 17 assists, and 26 points. He is followed closely behind by Leon Draisaitl who has 23 points.

Ottawa is suddenly getting good goaltending, holding down Montréal in a 3-2 victory on Thursday before losing to the Canadiens on Saturday, 2-1. Ottawa is 2-9-1 and have lost nine of their last 10 games. They have scored 28 goals while allowing 52, the most allowed this season.

The -24 goal differential is the worst in the NHL. Matt Murray (4.10, .875) and Marcus Hogberg (4.54, .844) both look good in their last starts, but they have struggled for most of the season. Three players are tied for the team lead in scoring with seven points.

NHL Pick – Edmonton Oilers (-190)
Spread Pick – Ottawa Senators +1.5 (-541)
Total Goals Pick – Over 6.5 (-120)

St. Louis Blues @ Minnesota Wild – Postponed

*This game has been postponed due to COVID-19 health and safety protocols, a new date has not been confirmed at this time*

Tampa Bay Lightning @ Nashville Predators – 8:30 PM ET

These two teams play each other on Monday night. This preview was written prior to the conclusion of that contest. Tampa Bay enters this contest as winners of four straight games after defeating Detroit on Friday, 3-1.

The Lightning are now 7-1-1, tops in the Central Division. They have scored 32 goals while allowing 18, A+ 14 goal differential which is the best in the division. Andrei Vasilevskiy stopped 27 of 28 shots in the victory over Detroit.

He has started all nine games for the Lightning and has an impressive 1.88 GAA and a .931 save percentage. The Lightning have three players who were tied for the team lead in points with 10.

Nashville dropped a 2-1 decision to Florida last Friday. The Predators are now 5-6-0. They have scored 29 goals while allowing 36. Goaltending has been inconsistent for Nashville, but Pekka Rinne finally looks like he is getting back in the form.

The Nashville netminders stopped 34 of 36 shots against Florida. He now has a 2.77 GAA and a .902 save percentage. Juuse Saros (3.31, .893) will likely be the starter on Tuesday. Filip Forsberg leads the team in points with 11 and goals with six. He is the only Predators player with at least 10 points.

NHL Pick – Tampa Bay Lightning (-145)
Spread Pick – Nashville Predators +1.5 (-445)
Total Goals Pick – Under 6.0 (-115)

Chicago Blackhawks @ Dallas Stars – 8:30 PM ET

Chicago defeated Dallas in overtime on Sunday, 2-1. That made them 3-0-1 in their last four games and suddenly they are rising up the standings, now tied for second in the Central Division at 5-4-4. Chicago has scored 37 goals while allowing 40.

They are 1-3-3 on the road this season. Patrick Kane is on fire for Chicago, scoring six points over the last two games and has a five-game point streak (3 G, 7 A).

He leads the team with 17 points. Kevin Lankinen (2.32, .928) and Malcolm Subban (2.93, .913) have looked outstanding in net of late, and give Chicago a fighting chance against Dallas as they proved on Sunday. Subban stopped 30 of 31 shots by the Stars.

With the loss, Dallas drops to 5-2-2. They have scored 33 goals while allowing 23, a +10 goal differential. The Stars rank in the top five in both goals scored per game and fewest goals allowed per game.

Joe Pavelski continues to be a force early on, scoring seven goals and adding eight assists (15 points) in just nine games. It looks like Jake Oettinger may be taking over the primary goaltending duties. He has a 2.27 GAA and a .915 save percentage. Oettinger stopped 33 of 35 shots on Sunday.

NHL Pick – Dallas Stars (-161)
Spread Pick – Chicago Blackhawks +1.5 (-169)
Total Goals Pick – Under 5.5 (-105)

Arizona Coyotes @ Colorado Avalanche – Postponed

*This game has been postponed due to COVID-19 health and safety protocols, a new date has not been confirmed at this time*

Anaheim Ducks @ Vegas Golden Knights – 10:00 PM ET

Anaheim defeated San Jose in overtime on Saturday, 2-1. The Ducks went to-0-1 during the week, moving to 5-5-3, fourth in the West Division. Goal scoring still continues to be a major issue for this team as they have just 25, the worst goals per game average in the NHL. They have allowed 34 goals.

The combination of Ryan Miller (2.34, .916) and John Gibson (2.48, .918) have been outstanding for Anaheim. Gibson has been in net the majority of the time, starting 11 of 13 games. The team leader in goals is Max Comtois with five and his six points are tied for the team lead. An abysmal offense to say the least.

Vegas defeated Los Angeles on Sunday, 4-3. That moved them to 3-0-1 over their last four games and they are 7-1-1 overall. The team has scored 32 goals while allowing 22. Vegas is 6-0-1 at home.

The Golden Knights are getting outstanding goaltending out of Marc-Andre Fleury who has a 1.25 GAA and a .944 save percentage. He should be between the pipes for this game. Mark Stone leads the team with 11 assists and 14 points.

NHL Pick – Vegas Golden Knights (-233)
Spread Pick – Vegas Golden Knights -1.5 (+112)
Total Goals Pick – Over 5.5 (-110)

San Jose Sharks @ Los Angeles Kings – 10:00 PM ET

San Jose split a pair of games with Anaheim over the weekend, winning on Friday in a shootout, 5-4, then losing in a shootout on Saturday, 2-1. The Sharks are 4-5-1, seventh in the division. They have scored 28 goals while allowing 37.

Devin Dubnyk (2.91, .917) looks like he has taken over the No. 1 goaltending duties from Martin Jones (3.87, .876). Logan Couture and Evander Kane are tied for the team lead in points with eight.

Los Angeles lost all three games last week, extending their losing streak to four. The Kings are in dead spot last in the West Division at 3-6-2. They have scored 31 goals while allowing 38. Calvin Petersen (2.52, .925) looks like he has taken over the No. 1 goaltending duties in Los Angeles.

Jonathan Quick has struggled of late (4.05, .867), pulled from his last start after giving up four goals on 10 shots. Anze Kopitar is the only Los Angeles player with at least 10 points this season. He leads the team in assists with 12 and total points with 14.

NHL Pick – San Jose Sharks (-115)
Spread Pick – San Jose Sharks -1.5 (+187)
Total Goals Pick – Under 5.5 (+100)

Winnipeg Jets @ Calgary Flames – 10:00 PM ET

Winnipeg is coming off a great week against Calgary, going 2-0-1 in the three games in Winnipeg. This contest shifts to Calgary. Winnipeg is now 7-3-1, third in the North. They have scored 39 goals while allowing 32.

In the 4-1 victory over the Flames on Thursday, Connor Hellebuyck stopped 23 of 24 shots and Matheiu Perreault added three assists. Hellebuyck has started eight games and has a 2.48 GAA and a .913 save percentage. Mark Scheifele leads the team with 14 points. Five players on the team have at least 10 points this season.

Calgary defeated Edmonton on Saturday, 6-4. Four players on the Flames had at least one goal and one assist in the game. That moved Calgary to 5-5-1, sixth in the division. They have scored 33 goals while allowing 31. Calgary is 3-2-0 at home this season.

NHL Pick – Calgary Flames (-135)
Spread Pick – Winnipeg Jets +1.5 (-194)
Total Goals Pick – Under 6.0 (-120)
