New York Islanders @ Boston Bruins – 7PM ET

Tony Battalio

The New York Islanders come into this game on Thursday night looking to grab a massive momentum boosting victory away from home against the best team in the NHL this season. New York is off to a less than decent start this year and they will be looking to get that momentum rolling here in this one with a victory over the Boston Bruins on the road to grab an early season statement victory. The Islanders come into this game as losers of six out of their first 11 games on the season and they will be looking for their six victory of the season here in this one on Thursday night at TD Garden in Boston. They will be looking to get back on track after coming into this game on a two game, losing streak, and as losers of three out of their last four on the season as well.

The Boston Bruins are off to an incredible start this season and they will be looking to keep the momentum rolling here in this game on Thursday night against the New York Islanders. Boston is less then a year from setting the record for the most regular season wins in NHL history and with their start to this season they could potentially break their own record only a year later. Boston has already hit the double digit win mark through their first 12 games of the season and they will be looking for their 11th victory of the year with another quality performance here on Thursday night at home against the New York Islanders. They come into this game as winners of four out of their last five games on the season, and they are coming off of a victory over the Dallas Dallas Stars on the road in their previous contest. I expect them to grab their second consecutive victory and their fifth out of the last six games here on Thursday night against the Islanders.

SportsTips’ NHL Pick:

Boston Bruins (-160)

Dallas Stars @ Columbus Blue Jackets – 7:30PM ET

Tony Battalio

It has been a pretty solid start to the season for the Dallas Stars and they will be looking to keep the momentum rolling here on the road on Thursday night against Columbus. Dallas is coming off a loss to the Boston Bruins and their previous game at home and they will be looking to get right back into the win column when they quality performance over a struggling Columbus team here in the capital of Ohio on Thursday night. Dallas comes into this game with seven victories through their first 11 games of the season and they will be looking for their eighth victory of the year here and this one on Thursday against the Blue Jackets. They have been efficient on the offensive end of the ice, but they could work on some things on the defensive end of the ice as they are giving up about 2 1/2 goals per game which will not lead to sustainable victories for them this season. They will be looking to shut down a Columbus team that has shown they’ve had trouble scoring throughout the early part of the year.

Columbus comes into this game looking to get the train moving in the right direction but first they have to get it back on the tracks after a rough start to the season. This is a team that came into the year with plenty of expectations as they had a roster full of young talent and experienced veterans that they looked towards to make them competitive in the metropolitan division. Unfortunately for Columbus that has not been the case throughout the early part of the year and they find themselves sitting towards the bottom of the standings through the first 12 games of the season. They come into this game as losers of eight out of their first 12 on the year and they will be looking for their fifth victory of the season here at home on Thursday night against Dallas in what feels like a must win game for momentum purposes. That is exactly what I look for as I look for Columbus at Dallas here on Thursday night at home and pick up a much-needed victory.

SportsTips’ NHL Pick:

Columbus Blue Jackets (+165)

Nashville Predators @ Winnipeg Jets – 8PM ET

Tony Battalio

Nashville comes into this game looking to get things back on track throughout the early part of the season and a victory on the road against Winnipeg here in this one would go a long way in doing that for the Predators. It has been a pretty mediocre start of the season for them as they come into this game as losers of seven out of their first 12 games on the year and they will be looking for their sixth victory of the season here in this one on the road. Nashville currently find themselves towards the bottom of the Central division standings and a victory would help them move closer and gain ground on Winnipeg here on Thursday night. Nashville will have to clean up their play on the defensive end of the ice as they are giving up around three goals per game, which will not lead to many victories for them this season. They are currently only one game losing streak after dropping a game to Calgary in their previous contest.

The Winnipeg Jets come into this game after a pretty decent start to the season, and they will be looking to keep the momentum rolling here on Thursday night at home against Nashville. They currently find themselves in the top four of the Central division and a victory would move them further up the standings and get them off to a solid start in the season series with the Predators, who they will see three more times this season following this game. Winnipeg comes into this game as winners of six out of their first 12 games on the season but their overtime losses has earned them some much-needed points and put them in a position to be in the top three of the Central division early on in the year. I expect them to pick up a vital two points here on Thursday night over Nashville with a victory at home in this one. As I look for the Jets to win this one late after a competitive back-and-forth game between these two Central division teams.

SportsTips’ NHL Pick:

Winnipeg Jets (-135)

Seattle Kraken @ Colorado Avalanche – 9PM ET

Tony Battalio

The newest team in the NHL is coming off of a season where they made their first ever playoff berth, and upset the defending Stanley Cup champions in the opening round of the postseason. These two teams will meet again here on Thursday night in Colorado and Seattle will be looking to pick up another victory over the Avalanche here in this one to get the momentum rolling early on in the regular season. They are off a pretty slow start this year, and they will be looking to turn things around throughout the early part of the regular season and a massive momentum boosting victory here in this one against a solid Colorado team would help do the trick. Seattle comes into this game looking to grab their fifth victory of the season, as they come into this game as losers of nine out of their first 13 games on the year and they will need a victory here in this one to get back on track throughout the early part of the regular season.

Colorado is off to a solid start this season and they will be looking to keep the momentum rolling here at home on Thursday night against the Seattle Kraken. Colorado comes into this game with eight victories through their first 11 games of the season and they will be looking to make it nine out of 12 with another quality performance here and this one on their own home ice. Colorado has been pretty efficient on the offensive end of the ice, but they will need to clean up their play on the defensive end of the ice as they are giving up nearly 3 goals per game this season, and that will not be sustainable for success this year. This will be the second game between these two teams this season, and last time they met it was all Colorado as they picked up a three goal victory on the road in the Pacific Northwest. They come into this game on a one game winning streak and as winners of two out of their last three on the season and I expect them to pick up a second consecutive victory here on Thursday night at home against Seattle.

SportsTips’ NHL Pick:

Colorado Avalanche -1.5 (+105)

Pittsburgh Penguins @ Los Angeles Kings – 10:30PM ET

Tony Battalio

Pittsburgh comes into this game looking to head out to the West Coast and pick up a solid early season victory over the Los Angeles Kings here on Thursday night at the Staples Center. It has been a rough start to the season for an ageing Penguins roster, and it looks as if their once great dynasty is well on its way to being over after several years of stagnating throughout the last several seasons. Pittsburgh comes into this game with a losing record as they find themselves on the opposite end of six out of their first 11 games of the season, and they will be desperately searching for their sixth victory of the year here on the road on Thursday night in Los Angeles. Pittsburgh has plenty of momentum coming into this game as they are currently on a two game-winning streak, and they will be looking to keep that momentum rolling with a hard earned victory here on Thursday night in Los Angeles.

The Los Angeles Kings come into this game on Thursday night looking to pick up a solid early season victory at home over Pittsburgh. Los Angeles is off to a pretty solid start this season as they have picked up seven victories and their first 11 games of the year and a pair of overtime losses that have earned them a couple of crucial points throughout the early part of the regular season. They will be looking to keep the momentum rolling and pick up their eighth victory of the season here on Thursday night at home against Pittsburgh, as they look to keep pace with the Vegas Golden Knights within the division who are off to an absolutely fantastic start to the season as well. Expect Los Angeles to do just that and pick up a victory here on Thursday night over Pittsburgh at home to get their eighth victory of the young season.

SportsTips’ NHL Pick:

LA Kings (-120)
