Free NHL Picks Today for the All-Star Game Semifinal: Atlantic vs Central, 2022
Sat 5th February 2022

It’s the unofficial halfway point of the NHL season, and that can mean only one thing: the All-Star Game! After the Skills Competition was completed on Friday, we can move to the semifinals, and the second game will see the Atlantic and Central Division clash.

Just like we have been doing for the entire season so far, we will preview all three All-Star Games, and provide you with our expert NHL picks for the games. This means that you not only get enjoyment out of watching some intriguing matches, but also make extra cash while doing so!

Look below to find our free NHL picks, as we preview the second semifinal of the All-Star Games.

Denis Kirilov

The Central Division has set their eyes on the All-Star Trophy after having some of the best players in the NHL in their roster. The Colorado Avalanche has been the most dangerous-looking offensive team in the League as they are sending Nathan MacKinnon and Cale Maker in the All-Star games. Kirill Kaprizov and Kyle Connor will further help the team in attack, while Cam Talbot and Juuse Saros will take turns in goal. I would say that their chances of winning the Tournament are the highest among all teams as they have shown a lot of consistency throughout the season so far.

The Atlantic Division will rely mostly on their amazing forwards in the face of Auston Matthews and Jonathan Huberdeau. These two have been quite clinical throughout the campaign for the Toronto Maple Leafs and the Florida Panthers respectively. Moreover, the experienced Patrice Bergeron and Victor Hedman will also take part in this semifinal which will make the derby even more enjoyable to watch. However, in my opinion the Central Division will take the upper hand in the end and will be one game away from lifting the trophy.

Denis’ NHL Pick: Central Division

Tony Battalio

The Central Division may be the best division in the National Hockey League at least in my opinion. It is full of tough teams like the Nashville Predators, Colorado Avalanche, St. Louis Blues, and Minnesota Wild. However they will be without perhaps their best player as the Colorado Avalanche’s Nathan McKinnon will be unable to play due to a concussion he suffered in a game against the Chicago Blackhawks. However they are still pretty star studded even without McKinnon as they feature players like Cam Talbot in between the bars, Cale Maker, Nazem Kadri, and Alex DeBrincat. The Central is a young hungry team who is still very capable of picking up a victory in this mini playoff.

The Atlantic Division is a top two division in the National Hockey League this season. They bring a star studded lineup to this year’s NHLs All-Star festivities. They drew the Central Division in the lottery so both teams will have their hands full in the first semifinal of today’s 3 game tournament. The Atlantic brings players like Johnathon Huberdeau, Dylan Larkin, Patrice Bergeron, Steven Stamkos, and many more. I look for them to outduel the Central Division and pick up a hard fought victory to move on to the finals of the NHL All-Star Tournament.

Tony’s NHL Pick: Atlantic Division

Jeffery Thomas

We have the NHL All-Star weekend back, and it’s taking place in Las Vegas after a one year hiatus. Two 10 minute halves of 3 on 3 hockey decides the winner, with a grand prize of $1 million, so there definitely will be effort put in here unlike other leagues All-Star games. The Central Division is a very strong candidate to win this one with some of the best stars the game has to offer, even with the loss of their captain Nathan McKinnon. That leaves Dallas Stars right winger Joe Pavelski as the new captain with replacement Roman Josi stepping in. It’s a star studded affair for the Atlantic Division as they have all the big names with Auston Matthews, and Steven Stamkos among others.

They also have the two goalies that won the Save Streak competition on Friday, Andrei Vasilevskiy and Jack Campbell. The Atlantic Division has advanced to three finals since the implementation of the new three on three game but have yet to come away with the ultimate prize. The Central Division will be looked at as the underdogs, rightfully so, and that could possibly give them an extra boost of motivation to pull off the “upset”. However, it’s hard for me to pick against the Atlantic with their mix of the top scorers and best passers in the league in this format. Pair that with two of the best goalies, who can make some timely saves and I see them pulling out the victory.
