Minnesota Wild @ Detroit Red Wings – 1PM ET

Tony Battalio

Minnesota is having a less than impressive start to the regular season, and they will be looking to get momentum rolling in the right direction with a quality performance here in Detroit on Sunday afternoon. They come into this game with 13 losses through their first 18 games of the regular season and they will be desperate to pick up their sixth victory of the year here on Sunday afternoon as they look to establish themselves as a playoff contender this season. Minnesota will need to clean up their play on the defensive end of the ice as they are giving up nearly 4 goals per game and that is not sustainable for any type of success this season for the Wild. If they can turn their defensive issues around, they have an opportunity to be competitive within the Central division this season. Minnesota comes into this game desperate for a victory as they currently find themselves on a solid losing streak coming into this game against Detroit on Sunday.

Detroit is off to somewhat of a respectable start to the regular season as they have already hit the ten win mark through their first 19 games of the regular season. They will be looking to grab their 11th victory of the season and move a little bit farther away from the 500 mark with a quality performance here on Sunday afternoon at home against Minnesota. Detroit is hovering around .500 and they have a winning record through their first 19 games of the season and they will look to further establish themselves as a playoff contender with another quality performance here in this one. Detroit will need to clean up their play on the defensive end of the ice as they are giving up over three goals per game and that is not sustainable for success for them this season either. Detroit has plenty of momentum coming into this game as they have picked up victories in each of their last two games and I expect them to make it three games in a row with another victory here on Sunday afternoon at home.

SportsTips’ NHL Pick:

Detroit Red Wings (-115)

St.Louis Blues @ Chicago Blackhawks  – 2PM ET

Tony Battalio

It has been a rather average start of the season for the St. Louis Blues, as they come into this game hovering around .500 through their first 19 games of the year. They do come into this game with a winning record, and they will be looking to increase their win total with another quality performance here on Sunday afternoon in the windy city against the Chicago Blackhawks. St. Louis is usually a team that is a contender each and every year inside of the Central division, and they will be looking to further prove that narrative to be true with another quality performance early on in the year on the road in Chicago. They need to improve their play on both ends of the ice as it wouldn’t hurt them to increase the number of goals they score per game and decrease the number of goals they allow per game. They looked absolutely awful on the defensive end of the ice in their previous game after giving up eight goals to the Nashville Predators, and they will be looking to avoid that here in this game on Sunday.

It has been a rough start to the season for the Chicago Blackhawks, and they will be looking to get things turned around with a victory here at home against the St. Louis Blues on Sunday afternoon. Chicago comes into this game. Well under .500 as they have lost 12 of their first 18 games of the regular season and they will be looking to get things back on track with a solid home victory over a divisional opponent. This is a Chicago team that has also struggled on both ends of the ice as they score around two goals per game, but give up nearly 4 goals per game and that is not something that will lead to them grabbing many victories throughout this regular season. They do have a little bit of momentum after snapping a losing streak in their previous game with a victory over the Toronto Maple Leafs in overtime. However,  I don’t look for that momentum to last long as I look for the St. Louis Blues to come to Chicago and pick up the victory over the Blackhawks.

SportsTips’ NHL Pick:

St.Louis Blues (-140)

Columbus Blue Jackets @ Carolina Hurricanes – 5PM ET

Tony Battalio

The Columbus Blue Jackets came into this season with plenty of expectations, but throughout the early part of the year they have not lived up to those expectations. They will be looking to change that narrative when they quality performance on the road in Carolina here on Sunday night as they look to get things rolling in the right direction throughout the early part of the year. Columbus comes into this game as losers of 15 out of their first 21 games of the season and they will be searching for their seventh victory of the year here on Sunday night in Carolina. Columbus is having several issues on the defensive end of the ice that is hampering their performance throughout the early part of the season and unless they figure out a fix to that problem quickly it is gonna be a very long season for Columbus inside of the Metropolitan division. They currently sit in last place of the division, and they will be looking to climb out of the basement with a win.

The Carolina Hurricanes are off to a quality start to this season, and they will be looking to maintain that quality start to the year with a victory at home over Columbus. Carolina comes into this game with 11 victories through their first 19 games of the season and they will be looking to defend their home ice here on Sunday night against Columbus as they have been a very tough team to beat at home over the last several years. They are currently in third place of the Metropolitan division, and they will be looking to climb up the standings with another victory as well as further bury the Blue Jackets in the basement of the division. They do need to clean up their play on the defensive end of the ice at some point as they are giving up around three goals per game and that is not sustainable for success within the division. However, I do expect them to pick up the victory over Columbus here on Sunday night at home by a comfortable margin as they pick up their 12th win of the season.

SportsTips’ NHL Pick:

Carolina Hurricanes -1.5 (-120)

Winnipeg Jets @ Nashville Predators – 8PM ET

Tony Battalio

It has been a solid start to the season for the Winnipeg Jets and they will be looking to keep the momentum rolling with a quality performance here on Sunday night in Nashville. Winnipeg has been one of the most successful Canadian teams throughout the early part of the regular season, and they will be looking to continue carrying that banner with a solid game here on Sunday night. Winnipeg comes into this game with 12 victories in their first 19 games of the regular season and they will be looking to make it 13 out of 20 here on Sunday night. They currently sit in second place of the division, and they will be looking to gain ground on the first place team with another quality performance here in this one against Nashville. They are currently on a lengthy winning streak and they have picked up one victory over Nashville already this season, and they will be looking for a second one here on Sunday.

Nashville is off to a rather disappointing start to the regular season, and they will be looking for a huge momentum boosting victory on Sunday night against the Winnipeg Jets. They will also be looking to get revenge over Winnipeg after losing to them in Winnipeg earlier on in this year. Nashville comes into this game with 10 losses through their first 19 games of the regular season as they are hovering below .500 throughout the early part of the regular season. They come into this game with plenty of momentum however, as they are currently on a four game-winning streak, and they will be looking for a fifth consecutive victory against Winnipeg on Sunday night at home. They have given up around three goals per game, which is something that they will need to clean up throughout the year if they want to maintain their current success. However, I don’t see that happening in this game on Sunday night as I look for the Winnipeg Jets to pick up the victory on the road.

SportsTips’ NHL Pick:

Winnipeg Jets (-115)

Anaheim Ducks @ Edmonton Oilers – 9PM ET

Tony Battalio

It has been a somewhat respectable start to the regular season for Anaheim and they will be looking to add another victory north of the border in Canada here on Sunday night against the Edmonton Oilers. They come into this game with 11 losses for their first 20 games of the season and they will be finally looking to break the double digit win barrier with a quality performance here on Sunday night on the road against a struggling Edmonton Oilers team. Any other team coming into this game with a losing record would arguably, be disappointing throughout the early part of the year, but Anaheim has been one of the worst teams in the league throughout the last couple of seasons. They have shown plenty of progress throughout the early part of this season towards their rebuild, and they look to be getting things on track finally. However, Anaheim is currently on a massive losing streak, and they will be looking to get it back on track with a victory here on Sunday.

The Edmonton Oilers are having a slow start to the season and that is unusual for a team that has been one of the best teams in hockey over the last several years. An early season injury of their superstar, Connor McDavid put them on the wrong path, and they are still looking to recover throughout the rest of November and into December as well. Edmonton comes into this game as losers of 13 out of their first 19 games on the year and they will be looking for their seventh victory of the season here on Sunday night at home against Anaheim. Goaltending issues have been a big problem for Edmonton throughout the early part of the season as they are giving up around four goals per game and they will not win many games that way. They come into this game with a little bit of momentum after snapping a three game losing streak and their previous game and I expect them to grab their second consecutive victory here on Sunday night at home.

SportsTips’ NHL Pick:

Edmonton Oilers -1.5 (-115)
