With their backs completely up against the wall and all the stats pointing towards a Colorado Avalanche win, the Tampa Bay Lightning pulled a win out of the bag to extend the series to a Game 6. Can the Lightning extend the series again with a win tonight, or will the Avalanche claim the Stanley Cup on the road?

The Tampa Bay Lightning refuse to go down and are still alive in the Stanley Cup series aiming to win their third consecutive NHL title. They went to Colorado being 1-3 down and managed to survive with a 3-2 win and now the series is going back to Florida where the Lightning will have a chance to tie things up at 3 wins apiece. The Lightning led three times in Game 5 and managed to hold on after Ondrej Palat scored with less than six minutes left on the clock. Tampa Bay now has the momentum and will use that to win tonight, and send the series to the decisive Game 7 in Colorado.
The Lightning have won 8 of the last 11 games following a win, 41 of the last 57 home games and 42 of the last 62 games played on Sunday. The Avalanche have won 8 of the last 9 road games, 42 of the last 52 games after scoring 2 goals or less in their previous game and 57 of the last 79 games when their opponent allows 2 goals or less in their previous game.

The Colorado Avalanche once again have a huge opportunity to close out this series in six games when they travel back to Tampa Bay and take on the Lightning here in Game 6. They have been solid throughout the first five games of the 2022 Stanley Cup Finals series. They head into Game 6 holding a 3-2 lead over the two time defending Stanley Cup champions.
The Tampa Bay Lightning once again have their backs against the wall here in Game 6. As it is win or go home as they will look to force a Game 7 with their second straight victory in this series. Their shot at a three peat rests on the result of this one on Sunday evening. For the result of this game, I have the Colorado Avalanche getting the win, to end the year as Stanley Cup champions.

The Colorado Avalanche had the chance in Game 5 to bring home the Stanley Cup in front of their home fans but the Tampa Bay Lightning had other plans. The defending champs went on the road and got a gutsy 3-2 win to extend the series and send it back to Tampa Bay. The good news for the Avs (if there is any) is that they shouldn’t feel as much pressure on the road in this one and that they have been lights out away from home all postseason.
Their 8-1 road record suggests that they like feeding off the negative energy from the fans and that will surely be the case in Tampa on Sunday. Only 6 of the 17 teams that forced a Game 6 after facing elimination in the Stanley Cup final went on to force a Game 7 and the Bolts will look to add their name to that list. I expect them to after being given that new life and I just see this as a 7-game series with how well these two teams match up. Expect to see Tampa protect home ice on Sunday and force an epic Game 7 to determine the 2022 Stanley Cup Champion.
