New Orleans Saints @ Atlanta Falcons – 1PM ET

These two NFC South teams will be facing off for the first time this season. Last season it was the New Orleans Saints who picked up the victory in week 18, however, they split the series as the Atlanta Falcons picked up the win in week number nine. Both games were decided by a total of 12 points.

Tony Battalio

Before Jameis Winston got hurt last season the New Orleans Saints looked set on making a run in the NFC. They will look to get off to a fast start again this season and they will have even more talent around Jameis as they get a returning Michael Thomas, a healthy Alvin Kamara, and what could be the rookie of the year Chris Olave at the wide receiver position. After splitting with the Atlanta Falcons last season they will be looking to get this year off to a fast start and pick up a win over their divisional rivals.

The Atlanta Falcons are seemingly entering a rebuilding era as they shipped off long time quarterback Matt Ryan to Indianapolis during the off-season. Now Marcus Mariota takes the reins in Atlanta with Desmond Ridder sitting behind him waiting in the wings. This is a team that has a lot of potential on offense although they will be without Calvin Ridley for the season after his gambling suspension. They still have Cordarrelle Patterson and rookie wide receiver Drake London who can make some noise as well as top tight end Kyle Pitts.

Tony’s NFL Pick:

New Orleans Saints (-250)

Pittsburgh Steelers @ Cincinnati Bengals – 1PM ET

These two AFC North teams will be facing off for the first time this season. Last season it was the Cincinnati Bengals who won both meetings between these two teams. As they outscored the Pittsburgh Steelers by a score of 65-20. As the Steelers scored 10 points in each game.

Tony Battalio

The Pittsburgh Steelers come into the 2022-23 National Football League season with quarterback questions for the first time in a long time after Big Ben decided to retire following last season. Mitch Trubisky will take over as the starting quarterback and he will be backed up by Kenny Pickett to start the season against the Cincinnati Bengals. Najee Harris will see the majority of the touches at the running back position as well.

The Cincinnati Bengals are looking to build off of last year‘s Super Bowl appearance with another one this season. As the most dynamic quarterback and wide receiver combo in the league returns with a season of experience under their belt in the NFL. That certainly can’t be good for national football league defenses as Joe Burrow and Ja’Marr Chase will look to replicate their success from last season. This Bengals team is very capable of making a second straight trip to the Super Bowl and I have them starting the season with a victory as well.

Tony’s NFL Pick:

Cincinnati Bengals (-350)

New England Patriots @ Miami Dolphins – 1PM ET

The New England Patriots and Miami Dolphins will be facing off the first time during the 2022-23 National Football League season. During the 2021-2022 season it was the Miami Dolphins who swept the season series. This is the second straight time these two teams will meet in Miami after ending the regular season there last season.

Tony Battalio

Last year the New England Patriots looked like a solid team and it looked like Bill Belichick has found his quarterback of the future in Mac Jones. However, the wheels fell off in the massive playoff blowout loss to the Buffalo Bills and it has been an off-season full of questions. The division around them has improved leaps and bounds since last season with each team adding bona fide stars and the patriots sitting idle for the majority of the off-season. So it’ll be interesting to see if that come back to haunt them this year.

The Miami Dolphins made a major splash in the off-season going out and trading for the Kansas City Chiefs speedster wide receiver Tyreek Hill. Combining him with Jalen Waddle and Mike Gesicki it gives Tua Tagovailoa yet another weapon to throw the football to. Now the only question that remains is if Tua can manage to stay healthy and get the football to them. This is a Miami Dolphins team that is very hard to beat at home and I think they will pick up the victory here in week one.

Tony’s NFL Pick:

Miami Dolphins (-185)

Indianapolis Colts @ Houston Texans – 1PM ET

The Indianapolis Colts and Houston Texans will be facing off the first time during the 2022-23 National Football League season. During the 2021-2022 season it was the Indianapolis Colts who swept the season series. As the Indianapolis Colts beat the Houston Texans by a combined score of 62-3 in two meetings.

Tony Battalio

The Indianapolis Colts went out over the off-season and brought in a brand new quarterback as they traded for Matt Ryan. However, the offense is focused on perhaps the best running back in the national football league as Jonathan Taylor, will look to have another solid season and will likely amass over 300 touches once again. This is certainly a team with a decent amount of talent surrounding Ryan as he looks to make one final playoff push as his career starts to wind down.

The Houston Texans are probably gonna be one of the worst teams in the league this season. However, they are certainly happy to be done with the Deshaun Watson saga and ready to start the Davis Mills era for good. The sad reality though is the fact that this team simply does not have enough talent to compete in the AFC this season. Even with Mills putting up decent numbers they are still going to have a rookie running back, an inexperienced wide receiver core, and a very suspect defense. So I expect the Indianapolis Colts to pick up this victory in week one in blow out fashion.

Tony’s NFL Pick:

Indianapolis Colts (-350)

Green Bay Packers @ Minnesota Vikings – 4:25PM ET

The Green Bay Packers and Minnesota Vikings will be facing off the first time during the 2022-23 National Football League season. During the 2021-2022 season both teams picked up a win as they split the season series. As the Green Bay Packers outscored the Minnesota Vikings by a combined score of 68-44 in two meetings.

Tony Battalio

The Green Bay Packers were one of the best teams in the league last season. But this year it’ll be interesting to see if they can repeat that success without their best wide receiver on the field after Davante Adams left for Las Vegas. It leaves a big hole on the field for Green Bay as Aaron Rodgers will now have to find another number one target. However, this team is still very capable of being successful this season and winning the NFC North.

The Minnesota Vikings coming to this game looking to get a statement win in week one of the 2022–23 season. With Kirk Cousins at the helm it is very possible that the Vikings could host Green Bay and pick up a massive victory here but he will have to get solid contributions from Dalvin Cook, Adam Thielen, and Justin Jefferson. The Vikings do have a decent defense that could certainly put Rogers under some distress but they will have to execute on offense to win this game.

Tony’s NFL Pick:

Minnesota Vikings (-125)
