NFL Betting Review on the New York Giants for the 2020 Season

NFL Betting Review on the New York Giants for the 2020 Season
Fri 19th February 2021

There is a real question as to what will happen with the New York Giants in 2021. The team finished 6-10 in 2020, and offensive coordinator Jason Garrett didn’t seem to make much of an impact.

Whether the team will stick with Daniel Jones at the quarterback position is unclear. The injury to running back Saquon Barkley in the second game of the season didn’t help things all that much, as Wayne Gallman wasn’t much of a replacement.

The Giants’ weak offense made them an easy team to pick for NFL betting purposes. People kept on picking the under in games involving the Giants, and they were mostly successful.

Here’s a look at how the Giants performed on the NFL betting market and what you can expect from them in 2021.

Going Under

The New York Giants had the worst over/under record in the NFL. The team went 3-13 on the total line. The club scored 17.5 points per game, which was the second-lowest total in the league. The Giants were limited to single-digit points in four games.

The over/under value for the Giants was around 45 to 50 on average for much of the season. The team’s offensive struggles still made them a popular pick for under wagers.

The club’s firm defense led by coordinator Patrick Graham also helped keep most of their games low-scoring affairs. The team had a 19-17 win against the Cincinnati Bengals with a 45 total, and they also beat the Seattle Seahawks 17-12 with a 48.5 total.

Spread Performance

The Giants went 9-7 against the spread in 2020. Many of the instances where the Giants beat the spread came from the club keeping some games close. They were the underdog in many of their matches, but they managed to keep some of their games from getting out of hand.

The Giants had a +13 line against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers late in the season, but they caught up to the Buccaneers and lost by two points. The Giants also held a +11 line against Seattle, but they pulled off the upset and won by five points.

The Giants weren’t always ready to compete. The club was +10 against Baltimore late in the season, but the Giants lost that game by fourteen points.

What to See in 2021

The New York Giants will be an interesting team to watch for NFL betting purposes in 2021. Saquon Barkley will be back following an injury.

The team will likely have a new quarterback, as there have been questions over whether Daniel Jones will stick around. Expect pressure from Giants fans and a notoriously rough New York sports media to chase him out of town.

Regardless of what happens, the Giants likely aren’t going to compete for Super Bowl LVI. They have a +7000 line to win the championship. The team’s odds to win the NFC East aren’t any better, as they are tied with the Washington Football Team for third place with a +600 to win the title.

The Giants will play against teams in the NFC South and AFC West in 2021. They will also have games with the Arizona Cardinals and the Minnesota Vikings, two teams with offensive attacks that are much more effective than what the Giants hold.

It will be interesting to see what the New York Giants will do for the 2021 season. The team will be under substantial pressure, and head coach Joe Judge will likely be on the hot seat to start the campaign. The Giants will need to bolster the team’s offense if it wishes to contend or if it wants to get over the point total more often.
