The Miami Heat (36-32, 14-19 Away), one of the league’s top scoring defenses, head to face the Orlando Magic (27-40, 15-19 Home) on Saturday. Miami is playing on back-to-back days after topping the Cleveland Cavaliers 119-115 at FTX Arena yesterday. Jimmy Butler had a standout performance with 33 points.
The Heat are the seventh seed in the Eastern Conference. Orlando dropped their third in a row on Thursday at Amway Center, falling to the Utah Jazz 131-124. Paolo Banchero topped the scoresheet in the loss with 26 points. With 25 points and six assists, Markelle Fultz also had a strong game.
The Magic are the 13th seed in the Eastern Conference. This marks the last meeting of the season between the teams. Miami will be pursuing a season sweep against Orlando after coming out on top in both of their earlier matchups, the most recent of which was a 107-103 overtime victory at Amway Center on February 11.
Tyler Herro led the Heat with 23 points, while Butler added 22 points, seven rebounds, and six assists. Fultz had 17 points in the loss. The Heat have been led this season by Butler (22.3 ppg), Bam Adebayo (21.1), and Herro (20.4).
Adebayo also has grabbed 9.4 rebounds per game, while Butler has dished 5.1 assists per game.Banchero (20.1 ppg) and Franz Wagner (18.9) have supplied much of the Magic’s offense.
Banchero also has pulled down 6.6 rebounds per game. Cole Anthony has doled out 4.0 assists per game. Holding opponents to 109.1 points per game, the Heat are one of the toughest scoring defenses in the league (2nd). The Heat have found success in recent visits to Amway Center, winning six of the last 10.
Orlando is looking to snap a four-game losing run at home this season. Meanwhile, the Heat are 6-4 when playing two days in a row this season and 3-3 in such games against opponents with at least a day of rest. The Magic are 3-3 with a rest advantage. Miami is 4-6 in the last 10 games with an average margin of -5.8 (109.0-114.8).
For the season, the Heat are averaging 108.5 points per game, compared to 109.1 for opponents. Orlando has also gone 4-6 over the last 10, allowing 116.6 points per game on average while scoring only 113.0 (-3.6 margin).
