The Oklahoma City Thunder (37-38, 22-15 Home), one of the NBA’s top scoring teams, welcome the Charlotte Hornets (25-51, 12-27 Away) on Tuesday. Charlotte beat the Dallas Mavericks 110-104 at Spectrum Center on Sunday.
Gordon Hayward was the scoring leader with 22 points. PJ Washington was another standout performer with 21 points and 12 rebounds. The Hornets are 14th in the Eastern Conference.
Oklahoma City won on Sunday at Moda Center at the Rose Quarter, beating the Portland Trail Blazers 118-112. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander had 31 points, carrying the team. The Thunder are 10th in the Western Conference.
This marks the last meeting of the season between the teams. Charlotte will be aiming for a season sweep against Oklahoma City after getting the win in the only prior meeting 121-113 at Spectrum Center in December 2022, their fourth straight head-to-head victory.
LaMelo Ball led the Hornets with 27 points, 10 rebounds, and nine assists. Gilgeous-Alexander had 28 points in the losing effort. The Hornets have been led this season by Terry Rozier, who is averaging 21.1 points per game.
Rozier also has dished 5.1 assists per game. Meanwhile, Mason Plumlee is grabbing 9.7 rebounds. Gilgeous-Alexander’s 31.3 points per game have powered the Thunder on offense. He ranks as the fourth-highest scorer in the NBA. Josh Giddey is averaging 7.9 rebounds and 6.1 assists per game.
The Thunder are one of the top scoring offenses in the league, ranking fifth with 117.4 points per game. The Hornets have come up short more often than not in recent visits to Paycom Center, losing six of the last 10.
