The Los Angeles Clippers (29-26, 15-15 Away), one of the league’s top scoring defenses, head to face the New York Knicks (28-25, 13-14 Home) on Saturday.
Los Angeles was narrowly beaten by the Milwaukee Bucks 106-105 at Fiserv Forum on Thursday. Norman Powell led the way in the losing effort with 26 points.
The Clippers are the fifth seed in the Western Conference. New York won a close one on Thursday at Madison Square Garden, beating the Miami Heat 106-104. RJ Barrett had 30 points and eight rebounds to lead the team.
The Knicks are seventh in the Eastern Conference. This is the first meeting of the season between the teams. New York won both games between the teams last season, the last of which was a 116-93 triumph at Crypto.com Arena in March 2022, their third straight head-to-head victory.
Barrett led the Knicks with 24 points, while Immanuel Quickley added 21 points, 10 rebounds, and six assists. Amir Coffey had 16 points in the losing effort. Powell is averaging 16.6 points per game to lead the Clips in scoring this season.
Meanwhile, Ivica Zubac is grabbing 10.2 rebounds per game, eighth-most in the league, and Reggie Jackson is dishing 3.6 assists. Julius Randle and Jalen Brunson have been the primary providers of the Knicks’ offense, averaging 24.7 and 22.8 points per game, respectively.
Randle also has collected 10.8 rebounds per game, seventh-most in the league, while Brunson has tallied 6.2 assists per game. Holding opponents to 110.5 points per game, the Clippers are one of the toughest scoring defenses in the NBA (3rd).
