Golden State Warriors @ Dallas Mavericks – 9pm ET

The Golden State Warriors are going for the sweep in tonight’s game against the Dallas Mavericks. The Warriors have won the first three games in this Conference Finals series, and the Mavericks have their last chance to stay alive in the playoffs for 2022.

Jeffery Thomas

The Golden State Warriors won Game 3 to take a 3-0 lead in the Western Conference Finals and now sit one game from another trip to the NBA Finals. They would become the first team since Michael Jordan’s Bulls teams in the 90s to make six Finals in eight years. This speaks to the dominance Steve Kerr has brought to the organization since becoming the head coach, only losing two series out of 22 since taking over. Those two losses have both been in the Finals though, so their ability to just run through the Western Conference has been something to marvel at.

An interesting stat though is their lackadaisical attitude towards sweeping opponents in the playoffs. Under Kerr, the Warriors are just 6-4 in Game 4 when up 3-0 with one of those losses coming in the first round this year against the Denver Nuggets. For whatever reason, the Warriors just don’t typically bring their full focus in these situations and I think the books know it, making this line in favor of the Dallas Mavericks. I’m going to roll with the home team to keep their series alive and give their fans one great effort before being sent home for good in Game 5.

Jeffery’s NBA Pick: Dallas Mavericks (-112)

Noah Dunlap

The Golden State Warriors are looking to finish off the sweep of the Dallas Mavericks in Game 4, after dominating much of the first three games of the series. Apart from a brief stretch in Game 2, this series has been all Warriors all the time, as they haven’t trailed by any meaningful margin outside of the early 19-point deficit in that second game. As has been shown in virtually every game of this series, the Dallas Mavericks simply can’t get enough help outside of Luka Doncic to keep them in it, as with the offensive firepower that Golden State brings to the table, the Mavs find themselves in a situation where they need not only Luka, but also preferably at least two other guys, whether it be Spencer Dinwiddie, Jalen Brunson, Dorian Finney-Smith, or Maxi Kleber, to step up and perform well. Currently, they’ve only been able to get Luka and only one other guy playing well in any given game, which is why they’ve come up short.

For Golden State, the only real question I have is whether they want to close this one out on the road, or at home. I’ve seen nothing to really suggest that Dallas keeps it all that close if the Dubs decide to really turn it on, so if Steph Curry, Klay Thompson, and company just decide that they want the rest, I think they end it with the sweep in Dallas. But at the same time, with this being potentially one of the last runs that we see from this core, as they are starting to get a little older, I could see them deciding to hold off and take care of business in Game 5 back home in the Bay. For this one, I’m going to go out on a limb and take Dallas to come out and play well, with them being able to avoid the sweep, in what ends up being a tight game. Give me the Mavs by single digits, led by a 40+ night from Luka.

Noah’s NBA Pick: Dallas Mavericks (-112)

Tony Battalio

The Golden State Warriors are on the doorstep of returning to the NBA finals for the first time since the 2019 season. In that season they lost to the Toronto Raptors and it was the end of Kevin Durant’s tenure in Golden State as well. Pairing that with Klay Thompson also tearing his ACL in that haunted Finals series, everyone thought that would be the end of the Warriors dynasty. However, they are proving people wrong at the moment as a healthy Thomson and Curry, along with Draymond Green are back and winning games like they never left.

Make no mistake about it, the Dallas Mavericks are a fantastic team. It is great that they have gotten this far in the NBA playoffs this season. However, their run may be coming to an end in this one, as their magic has run out. The Milwaukee Bucks are the perfect example of one player not being good enough to take down a well formed team. Just like Giannis Antetokounmpo, Luka Doncic is going to need some help in the future if he wants to win a title for the Dallas Mavericks. As for the result of this one, I am going with the Golden State Warriors to finish the series.

Tony’s NBA Pick: Golden State Warriors (-104)
