Golden State Warriors @ Boston Celtics – 9pm ET

We have reached the sixth game of the NBA Finals series between the Golden State Warriors and Boston Celtics. The Warriors have their first chance to win the championship in this game, as they proved too good for the Celtics in Game 5, winning 104-94. The Celtics will need to pull out a win in front of their home crowd if they want to take this series to a deciding Game 7.

The Golden State Warriors enter Boston on Thursday with an enhanced sense of determination now that their fourth NBA championship in eight seasons is just one win away. Golden State was able to win Game 5 and take a 3-2 lead in this series despite their star Stephen Curry not making a three-point basket, going 0-9. In fact, as a team they shot just 22% from deep (9-40) but made up for it with an elite defensive performance. They held Boston to just 39 first-half points and forced 18 turnovers in what ended up being a double-digit victory.

It was the first time this postseason that this young and inexperienced Celtics team lost consecutive games and you have to wonder if the pressure of this series is starting to get to them. They match up well with Golden State but the costly turnovers and ill-advised shots in the clutch are just catching up to them now. I think their future is bright if they can keep this core together but for now I’m going to have to go with the Warriors to close things out on the road on Thursday. These guys have the championship pedigree as a unit and know what it takes to close out the series.

Jeffery’s NBA Pick: Golden State Warriors (+142)

Noah Dunlap

The Boston Celtics took a really good swing at the best NBA dynasty we’ve seen since arguably the Jordan Bulls, with only the Kobe/Shaq Lakers even able to be mentioned in that conversation, and unfortunately for Celtics fans, it looks as if that swing missed. After being up 2-1 in the series, with Game 4 in Boston, the C’s have dropped two straight, including a loss in Game 5 that saw Steph Curry not hit a 3-pt FG for the first time in 233 games, and saw the Golden State Warriors shoot 22% from beyond the arc, and still win by double-digits. If you’re Boston, that doesn’t bode well for your chances at coming back in the series. With Game 6 being at home, they may come alive to force a Game 7, but even that’s going to be difficult, as the Warriors now sense another title, and it’s clear they have no interest in a Game 7. If Jayson Tatum, Jaylen Brown, Marcus Smart, and Al Horford can all come alive, there’s a chance, but it just seems like the odds are slim.

For Golden State, getting a win in a game that Steph shoots horribly, Draymond Green fouls out (again), and Klay Thompson shoots well, but not necessarily all that much, because they get carried by Andrew Wiggins, has to bring all the confidence in the world to that locker room. Expect the defense to continue to play well, and while Wiggins doesn’t play as well, Steph is certainly going to play better, and Game 6 Klay is still very much a thing, so I think the Dubs still find a way to get it done on the road, winning yet another title. Boston keeps it close for a while, but I just don’t see them having enough weapons offensively, especially if Golden State locks down just a bit on the defensive end. Look for a winning margin somewhere around 10, and congrats to the Dubs on winning the NBA title.

Noah’s NBA Pick: Golden State Warriors (+142)

Tony Battalio

The Golden State Warriors are one win away from wrapping up the 2022 NBA Finals. They have played great throughout the series and are now just another win from adding another ring to their already impressive dynasty. Steph Curry is also closing in on his first career NBA Finals Most Valuable Player award as well. I think it will come down to him and Andrew Wiggins at this point.

The Boston Celtics have their backs against the wall coming into Game 6 of this series at home at TD Garden. Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown will have to play much better than they did the previous couple games if the Celtics are wanting to force a Game 7 on Sunday evening. The Celtics have shown a lot of fight in this series but they are quickly running out of time. As for the result of this one however, I expect the Celtics to win and force a winner take all Game 7.

Tony’s NBA Pick: Boston Celtics (-168)
