Brooklyn Nets @ Boston Celtics – 7:30PM ET

Tony Battalio

The Brooklyn Nets come into this game looking to pick up a solid victory on the road at TD Garden against the Boston Celtics here on Friday night in this tournament matchup. It has been a roller coaster start of the season for the Brooklyn Nets, and they will be looking to get things going in the right direction with a quality performance here on Friday night against one of the top teams in the Eastern Conference. Brooklyn comes into this game sitting dead even after they’ve picked up four victories through their first eight games of the season and they will be looking for their fifth victory of the season here in this one on Friday night. They are dealing with plenty of injuries, and they come into this game after losing their previous contest against the Los Angeles Clippers so they will be looking to snap their one game losing streak in the process. This will be their second game of the season against Boston and last time these two teams met Boston beat them by 10 on their own home floor.

The Boston Celtics are off to a pretty solid start this season and they will be looking to pick up their second victory over the Brooklyn Nets here on Friday night at home in this tournament contest. Despite coming into this game on a two game losing streak, Boston is still off to a pretty impressive start this season as they come into this game with five victories, through their first seven contests of the year. They will also be looking for their second victory of the season over Brooklyn after beating the Nets by 10 points on the road in Brooklyn in the previous matchup between the two teams. They will be looking to shake off their recent struggles and close losses as they look to snap a two game losing streak here on Friday night and pick up a group victory in the process. That is exactly what I expect, as I look for the Boston Celtics to get themselves a comfortable victory over the Brooklyn Nets here in this one on Friday night at home, led by a solid performance from Jason Tatum and Jaylen Brown.

SportsTips’ NBA Pick:

Boston Celtics -10.5 (-110)

New Orleans Pelicans @ Houston Rockets – 8PM ET

Tony Battalio

The New Orleans Pelicans come into this game on Friday night looking to pick up a solid victory on the road against the Houston Rockets. New Orleans has plenty of star power and talent on their roster, but their biggest issue of the last several seasons has been their ability to remain healthy throughout the regular season. If this New Orleans team can remain healthy and consistent for an entire regular season, and into the postseason, they have the potential to make a deep playoff run, and possibly even compete for an NBA championship as well. New Orleans is off to a pretty average start this season as they come into this game dead even through their first eight contests of the year, and they will be looking for their fifth victory of the season here on Friday night against Houston. They will be severely shorthanded in this game as they will be without CJ McCollum, and potentially Zion Williamson as well, which could open the door for Houston to grab an upset victory at home.

Houston comes into this game after picking up a solid victory over the Los Angeles Lakers on Wednesday night and they will be looking for another quality victory over the New Orleans Pelicans here on Friday night in this tournament game. They are a young and hungry team that has plenty of talent and plenty of potential heading into this season and they will be looking to live up to potential and continue stringing together quality performances throughout the early part of the regular season. The Rockets have picked up four victories through their first seven games of the season, and they will be looking for their fifth victory of the season here on Friday night at home against a beat up New Orleans team. I expect this to be a close and competitive game throughout the entirety of the contest, but in the end I look for the Houston Rockets to pick up the victory over the New Orleans Pelicans in this group play game. As I think injuries will be too much for New Orleans to overcome in this tournament game on Friday night on the road.

SportsTips’ NBA Pick:

Houston Rockets (-135)

Utah Jazz @ Memphis Grizzlies – 8PM ET

Tony Battalio

The Utah Jazz came into this season with plenty of expectations, but they have had a bit of a disappointing start to the season, and they will be looking to get things rolling in the right direction with a victory here on Friday night on the road in Memphis. Utah comes into this game with plenty of talent on the roster and they are playing a team that is arguably the worst in the NBA at the moment so they should be able to take advantage of that and pick up a crucial road victory early on in the regular season. They come into this game after losing seven out of their first nine games of the season, which has been an unexpected start for Utah as they were expected to be one of the mid tier to top tier  teams in the Western Conference this year. They will be looking to get things back on track here on Friday night against Memphis, as they look for a victory within the group of their in season tournament, and a crucial third regular season victory early on in the year as well.

Memphis is having a hard time early on in the season without Ja Morant in the lineup, and they will be looking for a crucial victory here on Friday night at home against Utah to get their season rolling in the right direction. Through their first eight games of the season, they have only managed to pick up a singular victory and that is something that will have to change rather quickly otherwise, by the time Morant returns to the court, they will be well out of playoff contention. Despite all the negatives for Memphis, throughout the early part of the regular season, the one positive is that Desmond Bane has stepped up and turned into a leader for this team throughout Ja Morant’s suspension. They will be hoping that that continues even after he returns to the lineup but for now the focus will be on breaking their current four game losing streak, and they have hardly been competitive in any of those four games. Unfortunately for Memphis, I don’t see things getting much better for them in this one as I look for Utah to pick up the victory on the road here on Friday night.

SportsTips’ NBA Pick:

Utah Jazz (+170)

Minnesota Timberwolves @ San Antonio Spurs – 8PM ET

Tony Battalio

Minnesota comes into this game looking to get a solid early season victory over the San Antonio Spurs here on Friday night on the road in San Antonio. They are off to a pretty solid start to the season, and they are living up to the expectations surrounding them coming into the year. When they made the trade for Rudy Gobert a couple of years ago a lot of people had high expectations for the Timberwolves, and as of right now, it is paying off for Minnesota and they will be looking to keep things rolling with a crucial victory here on Friday. They come into this game as winners of five out of their first seven games on the season and they will be looking for their sixth victory of the season against a young San Antonio Spurs team on the road in this tournament game. Minnesota comes into this game on a four game-winning streak and they will be looking to grab their fifth consecutive victory of the season here in this one on Friday night.

The San Antonio Spurs are having a bit of a roller coaster start to the season, and they will be looking to calm things down and start stringing some victories together. It starts with grabbing a victory here on Friday night at home against Minnesota in this tournament matchup after they are coming off of a very rough performance at Madison Square Garden against the New York Knicks on Wednesday night. Number one overall draft pick Victor Wembanyama had trouble getting in the garden and he will be looking to get off to a better start here in this game on Friday night in front of his home fans. San Antonio was a very young team that has plenty of potential and plenty of blossoming talent, and if they remain healthy and consistent they could take a massive step and their rebuilding process throughout this regular season. I expect them to play a solid game on Friday night at home but unfortunately, in the end, I think it’ll be Minnesota that comes with the victory on the road.

SportsTips’ NBA Pick:

Minnesota Timberwolves -5.5 (-115)

Los Angeles Lakers @ Phoenix Suns – 10PM ET

Tony Battalio

The Los Angeles Lakers come into this game with plenty of questions about their early season performances, despite the amount of talent on their roster. Once again, Anthony Davis is dealing with some injury issues, and he will likely miss some amount of time throughout the next several weeks and it comes at a rough time for Los Angeles as they are trying to get their season on track. He is listed as a gametime decision heading into this game on Friday night on the road in Phoenix. As the Los Angeles Lakers will face off with the Phoenix Suns for the second time this season, and they will be looking to get a crucial victory over a Western Conference contender on the road. The Lakers come into this game with only three victories through their first eight games of the season and they will be looking for a crucial fourth victory here on Friday night in Phoenix. They have already picked up one victory over Phoenix this season, and they will be looking to grab a second to snap their current three game losing streak.

The Phoenix Suns come into this game having a rough start to the season as well as they have not been able to have all three of their superstars on the court at one time very much this season. They will be looking to avenge their loss earlier in the year to the Los Angeles Lakers with a quality performance here at home in this tournament game, but it seems like Devin Booker. Will miss this one, as he is currently listed as a gametime decision. Phoenix comes into this game sitting at the .500 mark through their first eight games of the season as they have picked up four victories, and they will be looking for their fifth victory here on Friday night at home against the Lakers. They are coming off of a couple back-to-back road victories, and they will be happy to return home with plenty of momentum as they search for their third consecutive victory of the season. That is exactly what I expect as I look for the Phoenix Suns to grab their third straight win, and their first win of the season over the Los Angeles Lakers here on Friday night at home.

SportsTips’ NBA Pick:

Phoenix Suns
