The Chicago Bulls (26-29, 10-18 Away), one of the NBA’s top shooting teams, head to face the Cleveland Cavaliers (36-22, 23-6 Home) on Saturday. Chicago was beaten by the Brooklyn Nets 116-105 at Barclays Center on Thursday.
Zach LaVine had a standout performance in the losing effort with 38 points. The Bulls are ninth in the Eastern Conference. Cleveland is playing the second of a back-to-back after winning their fifth in a row yesterday at Smoothie King Center, beating the New Orleans Pelicans 118-107.
Donovan Mitchell led the team in scoring with 30 points. With 28 points and 13 rebounds, Evan Mobley also produced a strong performance. The Cavaliers are fourth in the Eastern Conference. The teams are meeting for the last time this season.
Cleveland will be looking for a season sweep against Chicago after getting the win in all three of their previous matchups, the last of which was a 145-134 overtime victory at Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse on January 2, their third straight head-to-head victory.
Mitchell led the Cavaliers with 71 points, 11 assists, and eight rebounds. DeMar DeRozan had 44 points in the loss. The Bulls have been led this season by DeRozan and LaVine, who are averaging 25.7 and 23.9 points per game, respectively.
DeRozan also has dished 5.1 assists per game. Meanwhile, Nikola Vucevic is grabbing 11.4 rebounds per game. Mitchell (26.9 ppg) has been the primary provider for the Cavs on offense. He has the 10th-best scoring average in the NBA.
Darius Garland is doling out 8.0 assists per game, sixth-most in the NBA, and Jarrett Allen is collecting 9.9 rebounds per game. The Bulls are one of the league’s most accurate teams from the field, ranking fifth at 49.0%.
