The Indiana Pacers (6-6, 2-3 Away), one of the league’s top scoring teams, travel to face the Charlotte Hornets (4-11, 1-5 Home) on Wednesday. Indiana defeated the Toronto Raptors 118-104 at Gainbridge Fieldhouse on Saturday. With 22 points, Buddy Hield was the scoring leader. Myles Turner was another standout performer with 19 points and 10 rebounds.
The Pacers are sixth in the Eastern Conference. Charlotte won on Monday at Amway Center, beating the Orlando Magic 112-105. Mason Plumlee had 18 points and 10 rebounds to lead the team. The Hornets are 14th in the Eastern Conference. It’s the first meeting of the season between the teams.
Charlotte swept all four matchups between the teams last season, the last of which was a 158-126 triumph at Gainbridge Fieldhouse on January 26, their fourth straight head-to-head victory. Kelly Oubre Jr. led the Hornets with 39 points.
Goga Bitadze and Isaiah Jackson had 17 points each in the losing effort. Tyrese Haliburton (20.5 ppg), Bennedict Mathurin (19.9), and Hield (18.8) have led the Pacers in scoring this season. Haliburton leads the NBA in scoring. Haliburton also has dished 10.3 assists per game, most in the league.
Meanwhile, Jalen Smith is grabbing 7.6 rebounds per game. Oubre Jr. (18.3 ppg) has supplied much of the Hornets’ offense. He has the top scoring average in the league. Plumlee is pulling down 8.9 rebounds per game, most in the NBA, and Dennis Smith Jr. is recording 6.2 assists (1st).
The Pacers are one of the highest-scoring offenses in the NBA, ranking third with 117.3 points per game. The Hornets have found success in the last 10 games between the teams at Spectrum Center, winning seven. Charlotte is looking to avoid a fifth successive home loss this season.
Indiana is 6-4 in the last 10 games with an average margin of +1.2 (116.7-115.5). Charlotte has a 2-8 record over the last 10, allowing 112.9 points per game on average while scoring only 104.3 (-8.6 margin).
