The Brooklyn Nets (23-12, 11-7 Away), the league’s top shooting team, head to face the Charlotte Hornets (10-26, 5-11 Home) on Saturday. Brooklyn narrowly defeated the Atlanta Hawks 108-107 at State Farm Arena on Wednesday, their 10th consecutive win.
With 28 points, Kyrie Irving was the scoring leader. Kevin Durant added 26 points, 16 rebounds, and eight assists. The Nets are two games behind the Boston Celtics in the Eastern Conference, currently sitting in second.
Charlotte triumphed on Thursday at Spectrum Center, beating the Oklahoma City Thunder 121-113. LaMelo Ball had 27 points, 10 rebounds, and nine assists, leading the team. The Hornets are the 14th seed in the Eastern Conference.
It’s the final meeting of the season between the teams. Brooklyn will be pursuing a season sweep against Charlotte after triumphing in both of their earlier games, the most recent of which was a 122-116 victory at Barclays Center on December 7. Irving led the Nets with 33 points, nine assists, and four blocks.
Terry Rozier had 29 points in defeat. The Nets have been led this season by Durant, who is averaging 29.9 points per game, seventh-highest in the NBA. Meanwhile, Nicolas Claxton is grabbing 8.5 rebounds per game, and Ben Simmons is dishing 5.6 assists. Kelly Oubre Jr. (20.2 ppg) and Rozier (19.9) have supplied much of the Hornets’ offense.
Rozier also has doled out 5.5 assists per game. Mason Plumlee has collected 9.2 rebounds per game. Shooting 51.0% from the field, the Nets are the most accurate field goal shooting team in the league. The Nets are 6-4 in the last 10 games at Spectrum Center. Brooklyn has won six straight away from home this season.
