The Atlanta Hawks (40-39, 23-16 Home), one of the NBA’s top scoring teams, host the Washington Wizards (34-45, 16-24 Away) on Wednesday. Both teams will be playing on back-to-back days.
The Wizards are 7-8 without rest, while the Hawks are 2-10. Washington dropped their last game against the Milwaukee Bucks 140-128 at Capital One Arena yesterday, their third consecutive loss.
With 24 points, seven rebounds, six assists, and two steals, Kendrick Nunn led the way in the loss. The Wizards are the 11th seed in the Eastern Conference. Atlanta won in dominant fashion yesterday at United Center, beating the Chicago Bulls 123-105. Bogdan Bogdanovic had 26 points to lead the team.
The Hawks are eighth in the Eastern Conference.It’s the final meeting of the season between the teams. Washington will be looking to level the season series after winning only one of the three previous games. Atlanta won the last showdown 114-107 at Capital One Arena on March 10.
Trae Young led the Hawks with 28 points and nine assists. Bradley Beal had 27 points and six rebounds in the loss. Kristaps Porzingis and Kyle Kuzma, averaging 23.2 and 21.2 points per game, respectively, are leading the Wizards in scoring this season. Porzingis also has grabbed 8.4 rebounds per game. Meanwhile, Monte Morris is dishing 5.3 assists per game.
Young has supplied much of the Hawks’ offense, averaging 26.2 points per game. Young also has distributed 9.9 assists per game, third-most in the NBA. Clint Capela has averaged 11.2 rebounds per game. The Hawks are averaging 118.1 points per game, ranking as one of the highest-scoring offenses in the NBA (3rd).
The Hawks have had success in recent meetings between the teams at State Farm Arena, winning seven of the last 10. Washington is looking to avoid a sixth successive defeat away from Capital One Arena this season.
