Zach Davies (0-1, 5.40 ERA) is slated to get the start for Arizona. The righty allowed three runs over 5.2 innings in his last start, a 5-4 road win over the Rockies on Thursday. He gave up seven hits while striking out four and walking one in the no-decision.
Davies is making his first appearance against the Nationals this season. Davies made one start against the Nationals in 2022, a 4-3 road victory on April 21. He surrendered two runs on two hits over five innings, striking out seven and walking two.
For Washington, LHP Patrick Corbin (4-5, 4.92 ERA) will toe the rubber. It’s his first appearance of the season against the Diamondbacks. Corbin made one start against the Diamondbacks in 2022, throwing five innings in a 10-1 road defeat on July 22.
He gave up eight hits and walked one, while striking out seven in the loss. In his last start on May 31, Corbin took a no-decision on the road against the Dodgers. He threw five innings and gave up four runs (3 ER) on seven hits, striking out two and walking four in the 10-6 victory.
