Brandon Marsh will be looking to extend his 20-game on-base streak as the Philadelphia Phillies (11-13) host the Seattle Mariners (11-12) at Citizens Bank Park on Wednesday. The Mariners took Tuesday’s series opener 5-3.
Marco Gonzales got the win, giving up one run on four hits over five innings, and Paul Sewald pitched the ninth to pick up his seventh save. Jarred Kelenic was 3 for 4 with a solo home run and a double in the win. Edmundo Sosa went 1 for 4 with a solo home run for the Phillies. Jake Cave added one RBI on one hit.
ON THE MOUND
Logan Gilbert (1-1, 2.70 ERA) is set to start for Seattle. The RHP allowed four runs over six innings in his last start, a 6-5 road defeat against the Brewers on April 18. He gave up five hits while striking out eight in the no-decision.
Gilbert is making his first appearance against the Phillies this season. Gilbert made one start against the Phillies in 2022, a 4-2 home loss on May 11. He surrendered four runs on three hits over five innings, striking out nine and walking three.
RHP Taijuan Walker (2-1, 3.80 ERA) will toe the rubber for Philadelphia. It’s his first appearance of the season against the Mariners.
In his last start on April 19, Walker got the win on the road against the White Sox. He threw 6.1 innings and gave up two runs on five hits, striking out three and walking two in the 5-2 victory.
