Bailey Ober is expected to make his first start of the season as the Minnesota Twins (11-10) face off against the Washington Nationals (7-13) at Target Field on Sunday with the visitors eyeing a sweep of the three-game Interleague series.
The Nationals lead the series 2-0 after winning 10-4 on Saturday, their fourth straight head-to-head victory. Reliever Mason Thompson was credited with the win after throwing 2.1 innings.
Joey Meneses was 4 for 6 with a double and two RBIs in the win. Victor Robles added a triple and a double. He scored three runs and drove in one. Carlos Correa went 3 for 4 with one RBI for the Twins.
ON THE MOUND
Patrick Corbin (1-2, 7.71 ERA) is slated for the start for Washington. The southpaw allowed four runs (two earned) over six innings in his last start, a 7-6 road win over the Guardians on April 16.
He gave up five hits while striking out four in the no-decision. Right-hander Ober will toe the rubber for Minnesota, his season debut. He was 2-3 over 11 starts last season with an ERA of 3.21. He struck out 51 and walked 11 over 56.0 innings.
