Luis Arraez will be looking to extend his 17-game on-base streak as the Miami Marlins (49-37) host the St. Louis Cardinals (35-49) at loanDepot Park on Tuesday.
The Marlins took Monday’s series opener 5-4. Reliever Huascar Brazoban threw one scoreless inning to get the win, and A.J. Puk picked up his 14th save with a scoreless ninth.
Yuli Gurriel went 1 for 1 with a double and two RBIs in the win. Willson Contreras was 3 for 4 with a home run and a double for the Cardinals. He scored two runs. Paul DeJong added a double and one RBI.
ON THE MOUND
Adam Wainwright (3-3, 7.45 ERA) is set to get the start for St. Louis. The righty allowed six runs over 1.2 innings in his last start, a 14-0 road defeat against the Astros on Thursday.
He was charged with the loss, giving up six hits while striking out one and walking three. Wainwright is making his first appearance against the Marlins this season.
Over two starts against the Marlins in 2022, Wainwright was 2-0 with a 0.71 ERA over 12.2 innings. He had 15 strikeouts and three walks.
Southpaw Jesus Luzardo (6-5, 3.53 ERA) is on the mound for Miami. It’s his first appearance of the season against the Cardinals. Luzardo made one start against the Cardinals in 2022, throwing 4.1 innings in a 5-1 home defeat on April 19.
He gave up seven hits and walked two while striking out three in the loss. In his last start on Thursday, Luzardo took a no-decision on the road against the Red Sox. He threw 6.1 scoreless innings and gave up three hits, striking out nine and walking one in the 2-0 victory.

Over the last five games, St. Louis has averaged 4.4 runs a game, a small drop compared to their season average of 4.6. Against southpaws like Luzardo this season, the Cards have a .741 OPS.
Nolan Arenado is the team’s strongest performer against left-handers with a .893 OPS in 60 at-bats. Miami is averaging only 2.8 runs per game in the last five, down from 4.0 for the season, with their slash line slipping across the board (.215/.251/.313).
The Fish have a .693 OPS against righties in 2023. With a .934 OPS over 242 at-bats, Arraez has been their best hitter against right-handers.

St. Louis is 18-24 away from Busch Stadium in 2023, scoring 4.1 runs per game while allowing 4.3 runs. Miami has won three in a row at home.
The Fish are 26-16 at home this season, averaging 3.9 runs per game while surrendering 3.9. In the last 10 games at loanDepot Park between the teams, St. Louis is 7-3 with an average scoreline of 3.7-2.5.
STANDINGS UPDATE
