The Miami Marlins (42-33), one of the lightest-hitting offenses in the NL, is set to host the Pittsburgh Pirates (34-39) at loanDepot Park on Thursday for the opener of a four-game series.

The Pirates are coming off a three-game sweep at the hands of the Cubs, dropping the finale 8-3 on Wednesday at PNC Park for their ninth straight loss. Connor Joe was 1 for 2 with two walks and two runs. The Marlins are in the midst of a seven-game homestand.

They lost two of three against the Blue Jays in their last series, dropping the finale 6-3 on Wednesday at loanDepot Park. Jonathan Davis went 2 for 3 with one run.

The teams are meeting for the first time this season. Last season, the Marlins won four of the seven games between the teams, including two out of three in their most recent meeting at PNC Park in July.

ON THE MOUND

Mitch Keller (8-3, 3.62 ERA) is in line to start for Pittsburgh. The right-hander ranks second in the NL in strikeouts (108) and tied for fifth in wins. Keller allowed four runs over five innings in his last start, a 5-0 road defeat against the Brewers on Saturday.

In his last start on Saturday, Garrett got the win on the road against the Nationals. He threw six innings and gave up one run on four hits, striking out eight and walking one in the 5-2 victory.
