Cleveland Guardians @ Pittsburgh Pirates – 12:35PM ET

Tony Battalio

Despite Mitch Keller being on the mound for the Pittsburgh Pirates in their game on Tuesday night, the Cleveland Guardians jumped all over Pittsburgh. As Cleveland hung a crooked number on the scoreboard, only four or five pitches into Tuesday night’s game to pick up their second consecutive blowout victory over the Pittsburgh Pirates. Now they come into the finale of this series on Wednesday afternoon, looking to have a repeat performance of the previous two games and complete the three-game sweep of Pittsburgh here on the road to wrap up this road trip.

The Pittsburgh Pirates have looked awful throughout the last two games of this series against Cleveland. They will be looking to bounce back here in Wednesday’s finale and salvage a victory as they look to avoid getting swept by Cleveland during this three-game series. Pittsburgh showed a lot of promise at the beginning of the season but they have quickly made their way back down the standings and if they don’t turn things around soon, they will be one of the first teams eliminated from playoff contention this year. I don’t expect it to get much better for them in the finale of this series either as I have Cleveland picking up their third consecutive victory over Pittsburgh to wrap up the series at PNC Park.

SportsTips’ MLB Pick:

Cleveland Guardians

Houston Astros @ Colorado Rockies – 3:10PM ET

Tony Battalio

The defending World Series champions had a sluggish start to the season, but things are coming together as we cross the halfway point of the year. They are still arguably flying under the radar because of the success of the Texas Rangers, and they will be looking to chip away at the Rangers lead with a victory in the second game of this series against the Colorado Rockies. It wasn’t a pretty showing for Houston in the opening game of the series on Tuesday night as they lost to Colorado and now they will be looking to bounce back and even up the series before heading into Thursday’s off-day.

The Colorado Rockies grabbed a huge victory in the opening game of this quick two-game series on Tuesday night over the defending World Series champions. Now they will be looking to grab a victory in the series and season series finale to split the season series with the Houston Astros at two victories each. However, it won’t be easy for Colorado as wins over solid teams have been few and far between for the rebuilding Rockies this season. That is why I expect Houston to bounce back and wrap up this season series with her third victory in four games against the Colorado Rockies here on Wednesday night on the road at Coors Field.

Houston Astros

Milwaukee Brewers @ Philadelphia Phillies – 6:40PM ET

Tony Battalio

The Milwaukee Brewers are having a decent season up until this point and they currently sit in first place of the National League Central division. They will be looking to extend their division lead over the Cincinnati Reds by grabbing another victory in this game against the Philadelphia Phillies on Wednesday night at Citizens Bank Park in Philadelphia. Milwaukee comes into this one after a rough showing in the opening game of this series on Tuesday night when they lost a close matchup to the Phillies. Now they will be looking to bounce back here in game number two and even up the series before Thursday’s finale.

Philadelphia came into this season with a ton of expectations after winning the National League pennant last year. They have been slightly underwhelming, and you can argue that they have flown under the radar as well in the National League East division. They come into this game with a winning record, but they are currently in third place in their division and on the outside looking in when it comes to the national league playoff race. They picked up a solid victory over Milwaukee in the opening game of their series on Tuesday night, and they will be looking to repeat that performance to clinch the series on Wednesday as well as set up a sweep for Thursday’s finale. That is exactly what I expect as I have Philadelphia grabbing the victory in this game.

San Diego Padres @ Toronto Blue Jays – 7:07PM ET

Tony Battalio

The San Diego Padres picked up a convincing victory over the Toronto Blue Jays in their game on Tuesday night, and now they will be looking to repeat that performance here on Wednesday as well. San Diego has a dangerous team and once they get hot the rest of the league will be put on notice as this team is very capable of making a run to the World Series as long as they get consistent and remain healthy throughout the remainder of the regular season. The Padres come into this game with a record of 45-50 through the first 95 games of the season and they are currently in fourth place of the National League West. However, they are getting hot as they have won six out of their last 10 games on the season.

The Toronto Blue Jays will be looking to bounce back after getting blown out by the San Diego Padres in the opening game of this three-game interleague series on Tuesday night. Toronto has been solid this season, but they have flown under the radar because of the success of Tampa Bay and Baltimore within their division. Before this loss to San Diego, they were red hot as they have picked up eight victories in their last 10 games of the season and they are currently 11 games above .500 coming into the second game of the series. However, I expect Toronto to bounce back in the second game of the series and pick up the victory to even up the series before heading into Thursday’s finale.

Arizona Diamondbacks @ Atlanta Braves – 7:20PM ET

Tony Battalio

The Arizona Diamondbacks have exceeded their expectations for this season, and they come into this game in third place in the National League West division at the moment. They led the division throughout the majority of the first half of the season, but now they find themselves 2 1/2 games out of first place behind the Los Angeles Dodgers. They will be looking to reclaim their division lead, and it starts with grabbing a victory over the Atlanta Braves in the second game of the series here on Wednesday evening on the road. Arizona picked up a huge victory in the opening game of this series that included 29 total runs and several lead changes.

The Atlanta Braves will be looking to bounce back after they lost to Arizona on Tuesday night in the opening game of this series. There were several times throughout the game where Atlanta seemed to have control, but the Arizona Diamondbacks just continued to fight back before ultimately taking a three-game lead and winning 16 to 13 after nine innings. Now Charlie Morton will take the mound for Atlanta in the second game of the series, looking to even it up at home for the Braves as they look to extend their lead in the National League East. That is exactly what I expect as I look for the Braves to even up the series with a victory on Wednesday night.
