Los Angeles Angels @ Philadelphia Phillies – 1:05PM ET

It has been a rough year for the Los Angeles Angels and at this point in the season they are simply playing for pride, as they have all but officially been eliminated from the postseason. They have picked up seven losses in their last 10 games on the season and they currently find themselves on a three game losing streak, coming into the finale of this series against the Philadelphia Phillies on Wednesday afternoon on the road in Philadelphia. They will be looking to pick up a victory here in the series finale to avoid getting swept by the Phillies and furthering the disappointment that they have suffered this season.

It has been a solid season for Philadelphia as they have really stepped up their level of play over the last couple of months. They currently find themselves occupying the top wildcard spot in the National League, and they will be looking to extend their lead in that spot with a third consecutive victory over the Los Angeles Angels here on Wednesday afternoon at home. Philadelphia has already clinched this series and they will be looking to complete the sweep to keep the momentum rolling heading into the week and the final few days of August as well. That is exactly what I expect as I have Philadelphia picking up the victory in this game.

San Diego Padres @ St.Louis Cardinals – 2:15PM ET

It has been set 1000 times at this point, but the San Diego Padres have been one of the biggest disappointments in all of Major League Baseball this season. They were expected to be a World Series contender this season, but they have ended up being one of the worst teams in the National League west division, and they are far away from making a postseason appearance this year. They have been all but officially eliminated from the postseason at this point, and any attempt at salvaging their season has to start with picking up a victory over St. Louis in the finale of the series on Wednesday afternoon.

You could arguably say that the St. Louis Cardinals have followed a similar path as the San Diego Padres this season. St. Louis had expectations of winning a National League Central division championship coming into the year, and they have ended up being the worst team within the division, and somehow they have managed to be even worse than the Pittsburgh Pirates, who have been losers for well over two decades at this point. St. Louis will be looking to pick up a victory in the finale of this series against San Diego but unfortunately for the Cardinals, I don’t see it happening as I have the Padres grabbing the win to wrap up this three-game series.

Oakland Athletics @ Seattle Mariners – 4:10PM ET

There’s not much they can be said about the Oakland Athletics season, other than how awful it has been. They are on pace to finish as one of the worst historic single-season teams in all of Major League Baseball history and off the field. They are likely headed for a move to Las Vegas, which will divide the fanbase and cause plenty of controversy with the time comes. At this point in the season, they are simply playing to spoil the hopes of other teams in the American League and playing for their own pride but it is very likely they will become one of the potential three teams to lose over 100 games this season.

The Seattle Mariners had a sluggish start to the season, but they have picked it up and now they find themselves sitting on top of the American League West division by less than a game ahead of the defending World Series champions, the Houston Astros and the Texas Rangers. They will be looking to pick up a victory in the finale of the series against Oakland here at home on Wednesday afternoon, and extend their lead within the division as well. Seattle comes into the finale of this series after losing on Tuesday night and they will be looking to bounce back in this game. That is exactly what I expect as I have them picking up the comfortable victory here on Wednesday afternoon.

Atlanta Braves @ Colorado Rockies – 8:40PM ET

The Atlanta Braves have been one of the best teams in all of baseball this season, and they will be looking to cap off this series with Colorado with another quality victory here on Wednesday night at Coors Field. Atlanta has already been the favorite to win the pennant in the National League for the entirety of the year and at this point in the season they are simply playing the remainder of the regular season games for fun before getting to the postseason. They have all been officially locked up their playoff spot, and now they will be going for the top seed in the National League and they are very close to clinching that as well.

It’s been a long year for the Colorado Rockies and it likely signals the beginning of a very long rebuilding era for this team as well. They currently find themselves positioned as one of the worst teams in all of baseball this season and they will likely be one of those teams that loses over 100 games this year as well. They will be looking to pick up a victory in the finale of this series against the Atlanta Braves on Wednesday afternoon, but even them having the home-field advantage doesn’t make much of a difference against a team that crushes home runs. It actually put them in a massive disadvantage because of the thinner air in Denver, as it allows Atlanta heavy hitters to drive the baseball. That is why I expect the Atlanta Braves to pick up the victory in this game on Wednesday night.

Arizona Diamondbacks @ Los Angeles Dodgers – 10:10PM ET

The Arizona Diamondbacks are having themselves somewhat of a successful season, but they are not having a good time against the Los Angeles Dodgers this week. Arizona has been blown out in two consecutive games against the Los Angeles Dodgers and they will be looking to rebound here on Wednesday evening as they look to pick up their first victory of the series. Their blowout loss to Los Angeles on Tuesday night was there second consecutive defeat on the year and they will be looking to bounce back as they look to maintain their spot in the top three of the National League wild card race as we head into the final month of the season.

It has been a successful year for the Los Angeles Dodgers and once again, this is a team that is positioned to make a deep run into the postseason as well. They could potentially pass the Atlanta Braves for the top record in the National League as long as they remain healthy and consistent throughout the remainder of the regular season, and they continue to play the way they have been playing coming down the final stretch of the year.  They have already picked up two consecutive victories in this series and they will be going for a third consecutive victory here on Wednesday night. That is exactly what I expect as I have the Los Angeles Dodgers grabbing the victory over the Arizona Diamondbacks.
