San Diego Padres @ Cleveland Guardians – 6:10PM ET

The San Diego Padres and Cleveland Guardians will be playing the opening game of their two game series in this one. Cleveland is coming off of a sweep of the Oakland Athletics, while San Diego comes into this series after a 5-1 record through the first six games of their road trip.

Tony Battalio

The San Diego Padres come into this game playing some decent baseball as of late. As they have swept the Cincinnati Reds and taken two of three games against the Pittsburgh Pirates. Now they will look to finish their Midwest road trip with another series win against the Cleveland Guardians. Tuesday’s matchup will be special in a way as well, as Mike Clevinger will make his return to the team that traded him a few years ago and pitch against them in this one. This will be the first time he has thrown a pitch since 2020.

The Cleveland Guardians are having a unique season, as they started off with a 2-2 series split with the Kansas City Royals. But since then they have either been swept or swept the team they have played in every other series up until this opening game with the Padres. They come into this game with a record of 10-12 through their first 22 games, which puts them in second place in the American League Central division. As for the result of this game I am going with the Guardians to pick up the victory against their old pitcher.

Tony’s MLB Pick: Cleveland Guardians (+122)

Marko Nadin

The Cleveland Guardians are currently second in the AL Central with a 10-12 record. They are coming into the series against the Padres after they swept the Oakland Athletics in the previous three games but that was after they lost 7 straight games to the New York Yankees and the Los Angeles Angels. The Guardians are 6th in the league scoring 4.77 runs per game and third in the league with a .251 AVG. Cleveland will start Zach Plesac tonight who is 1-2 for the season with a 3.80 ERA.

The San Diego Padres are on top of the NL West with a 15-8 record. They have won 4 of the last 5 games and are coming off a 2-1 series win over the Pittsburgh Pirates. The Padres are 4th in the league scoring 4.79 runs per game and rank 11th with 3.91 allowed runs per game. The Padres will start Mike Clevinger tonight who will make his season debut. As a matter of fact, Clevinger will play his first game since 2020 when he finished 3-2 with a 3.02 ERA.

Marko’s MLB Pick: Cleveland Guardians (+122)

Los Angeles Angels @ Boston Red Sox – 7:10PM ET

The Los Angeles Angels and Boston Red Sox will be playing the opening game of their three game series in this one. Los Angeles Angels just finished a four game series with the White Sox, while Boston had a rough weekend trip to Baltimore, losing two games.

Tony Battalio

The Los Angeles Angels are coming into this one after finishing up a four game series with the Chicago White Sox. Now their road trip will head further East as they will head to Beantown to play the Boston Red Sox at Fenway Park. The Angels are having a decent start to the 2022 Major League Baseball season, as their star studded team is seemingly starting to gel after a couple years together. Taking the mound for them in this series opening game will be Noah Syndergaard who comes into the start with a 2-0 record and a 2.12 Earned Run Average.

It’s been a slow start to the year for the Boston Red Sox as they come into this game with a record of 9-14 through their first 23 games of the 2022 Major League Baseball season. They are currently sitting in fourth place of the American League East and come into this one on a two game losing streak as well. They will need to find a way to bounce back as they are coming off of a series loss to the Baltimore Orioles over the weekend. As for the result of this series opening game I am going with the Los Angeles Angels to get the win behind a strong performance from Noah Syndergaard.

Tony’s MLB Pick: Los Angeles Angels (-126)

Marko Nadin

The Boston Red Sox are having a disappointing start of the season as they are fourth in the AL East with a 9-14 record. They are coming off a 2-1 series loss against the worst team in their division, the Baltimore Orioles. The Red Sox are 24th in the league with 3.59 runs per game and they hit only 0.55 home runs per game which puts them 26th. Things don’t stand much better on defense as they allow 3.98 runs per game, 14th in the MLB. The Red Sox will start Michael Watcha who is 2-0 for the season with a 1.77 ERA.

The Los Angeles Angels are on top of AL West with a 15-9 record. They have won 7 of the last 9 games but are coming off a 2-2 series against the Chicago White Sox losing the last game by 3-0. The Angels score 4.67 runs per game which ranks them 8th in the league and they are 5th with 1.19 home runs per game. The Angels will start Noah Syndergaard who is 2-0 for the season with 2.12 ERA. The Angels have won 3 of the last 4 games against the Red Sox.

Marko’s MLB Pick: Boston Red Sox (+108)

Pittsburgh Pirates @ Detroit Tigers – 7:10PM ET

The Pittsburgh Pirates and Detroit Tigers will be playing the opening game of their two game series in this one. Pittsburgh just finished a series with San Diego, while the Tigers come off of a series with the Los Angeles Dodgers.

Tony Battalio

The Pittsburgh Pirates are coming into this short game series with a record of 9-13 through their first 22 games of the 2022 Major League Baseball season. They are coming off of a series loss against the San Diego Padres, as they will be looking to bounce back against Detroit, before playing Cincinnati over the weekend. Taking the mound for the Pirates in this one will be Bryse Wilson, who comes into this game with a 0-0 record through four appearances and a 4.70 Earned Run Average to go along with 15 and a third innings pitched and ten strikeouts.

The Detroit Tigers are another team that is a slow start to the year. As they come into this game with a record of 7-14 through their first 21 games of the 2022 Major League Baseball season. Detroit will be looking to gain some momentum in this series with the Pittsburgh Pirates and they desperately need it as they currently sit in the basement of the American League Central division. Starting for the Tigers in this one will be Michael Pineda who is 1-1 on the year with an Earned Run Average of 3.60. As for the result of this one I’m going with the Pirates to get the series opening win.

Tony’s MLB Pick: Pittsburgh Pirates (+126)

Marko Nadin

The Detroit Tigers are fourth in the AL Central with a 7-14 record. They have lost 7 of the last 8 games and are coming off a 2-1 series loss to the Los Angeles Dodgers on the road. The Tigers are 27th in the league scoring 3.29 runs per game and are the worst team in the league when it comes to home runs with only 0.47 per game. The Tigers will start Michael Pineda who is 1-1 for the season with a 3.60 ERA. The Tigers have 5 of the last 6 interleague home games against a right-handed starter.

The Pittsburgh Pirates are third in the NL Central with a 9-13 record. They have lost 5 of the last 6 games, being swept by the Milwaukee Brewers and winning only one game in the series against the San Diego Padres. The Pirates are 23rd in the league with 3.73 runs per game and second to last with 5.64 allowed runs per game. The Pirates will start Bryse Wilson who has a 4.70 ERA for the season. Pittsburgh has won 3 of the last 4 games against Detroit.

Marko’s MLB Pick: Pittsburgh Pirates (+126)

Chicago White Sox @ Chicago Cubs – 7:40PM ET

The North Side and South Side will come together for the first time this season. As the Chicago White Sox will take on the Chicago Cubs in a two game weekday series. As both teams will need a series win to gain some momentum.

Tony Battalio

The Chicago White Sox were expected to be the clear favorites to win the American League Central division. However, they haven’t gotten off to the start they would’ve hoped for this season. As they come into this game with a record of 8-13 through their first 21 games of the 2022 Major League Baseball season. They are coming off of a series with the Los Angeles Angels. As they just finished up a seven game homestand below the .500 mark. Now they will travel across to face off with the Cubs.

The Chicago Cubs aren’t having a much better start to the season either. They are coming into this quick two game home series with a record of 9-13 through their first 22 games of the season. They are in a similar situation as the White Sox, unfortunately for them they just happen to play in the tougher Central division, as a member of the National League. On the mound for the Cubs in this one will be Drew Smyly who is 1-2 on the season with an Earned Run Average of 2.79. As for the result of this series opening game I am going with the White Sox to win.

Tony’s MLB Pick: Chicago White Sox (-152)

Marko Nadin

The Chicago Cubs are third in the NL Central with a 9-13 record. They are coming off a 2-1 series loss to the Milwaukee Brewers being held to a run in each of the first two games before winning 2-0 in the last one. The Cubs are 11th in the league scoring 4.57 runs per game and are 24th allowing the same number of runs per game. The Cubs will start Drew Smyly who is 1-2 for the season with a 2.79 ERA. The Cubs have won 16 of the last 21 games against teams with a losing record under 40%.

The Chicago White Sox are third in the AL Central with a 9-13 record. They are coming off a 2-1 series win over the Los Angeles Angels with both wins being without a run allowed. The White Sox are 25th in the league scoring only 3.34 runs per game while they are 19th allowing 4.31. The White Sox will start Michael Kopech who has a 1.42 ERA this season. The White Sox have won the last 4 interleague road games.

Marko’s MLB Pick: Chicago White Sox (-152)

San Francisco Giants @ Los Angeles Dodgers – 10:10PM ET

The two best teams in the National League West division will meet up for the first time this series for a quick two game series. Los Angeles is coming off of a series with Detroit, while San Francisco faced off with Washington over the weekend.

Tony Battalio

This one is going to be one of the best series of the week in my opinion as two of the top teams in the National League and all of Major League Baseball are set to face off. The San Francisco Giants are coming into this series looking to regroup after a less than successful home stand where they split with Oakland and lost two out of three games to the Washington Nationals. They are still in a good spot as they come into this game with a record of 14-8 through their first 22 games of the season.

The Los Angeles Dodgers are coming into this game with a record of 14-7 through their first 21 games of the season. They are coming off of a series win over the Detroit Tigers as they will look to keep the momentum rolling in this one. They are looking to get back to the World Series after being knocked out in last year’s National League Championship Series. Starting for them in this game will be Julio Urias who is 1-1 on the year with a 2.50 Earned Run Average. As for the result of this series opener I am going with the San Francisco Giants to get the win.

Tony’s MLB Pick: San Francisco Giants (+126)

Marko Nadin

The Los Angeles Dodgers are on top of the NL West with a 14–7 record. They have lost 3 of the last 5 games, losing the series against the Arizona Diamondbacks by 2-1 and then winning the one against the Detroit Tigers with the same score. The Dodgers are the second-best team in the league with 4.94 runs per game and are the best defensive team in the league allowing only 2.67 runs per game. The Dodgers will start Julio Urias who is 1-1 for the season with a 2.50 ERA.

The San Francisco Giants are third in the NL West with a 14-8 record. They have lost 3 of the last 4 games and are coming off a 2-1 series loss to the Washington Capitals. The Giants have the best offense in the league scoring 4.97 rune per game and are 7th in the league allowing 3.42 runs per game. The Giants will start Carlos Rodon tonight who is 3-0 for the season with a 1.17 ERA. The Giants have won 5 of the last 6 road games against a left-handed starter.

Marko’s MLB Pick: San Francisco Giants (+126)
