Los Angeles Angels @ Detroit Tigers – 6:40PM ET

Despite all the questions surrounding the Los Angeles Angels, and what they will do with the trade deadline, they will be looking to open up the series with the Detroit Tigers on a solid note. As the Angels come into the opening game of the series outside of the playoff contention in the American League, they will have some work to do if they want to get themselves back in the conversation as we get closer and closer to the stretch run of the season. After a much-needed day of rest on Monday night, Los Angeles comes into this game looking to take advantage of a Tigers team that had to play a make-up game on Monday afternoon. They have won six out of their last 10 on the season and they will be looking to extend their winning streak to two games with another victory here on Tuesday. 

The Detroit Tigers are coming into this game after playing the San Francisco Giants at home on Monday afternoon after their game earlier this season was postponed due to rain. Detroit picked up the victory over San Francisco to complete what would’ve been a three-game sweep after they took the first two games against the Giants earlier this year. They come into game number one of this series on a two game winning streak as they look to get themselves back into the conversation to win the American League Central division. However, I don’t see things going well for them, and this one, as I look for the Angels to take advantage of their rest day and pick up a much-needed victory here on Tuesday night.

Miami Marlins @ Tampa Bay Rays – 6:40PM ET

The Miami Marlins had a solid first half of the season, but they have struggled since coming out of the All-Star break. Now they will be looking to regroup when they open up this series with one of the best teams in all of baseball in Miami will be desperate to grab a victory here on Tuesday night as they head north to Tampa Bay to take on the Rays. Prior to their victory on Sunday, Miami found themselves on an eight game losing streak, and they were finally able to snap that losing streak with a huge momentum, grabbing victory to wrap up their series over the weekend. Now they will be looking to use that momentum to grab a much-needed victory when they open up this series against Tampa Bay here on Tuesday night.

The Tampa Bay Rays are coming off of a rough weekend where they lost three out of four games to the Baltimore Orioles. In that process, they also lost control of the American League East division and they no longer have the best record in all of Major League Baseball. They will be looking to regroup as they are yet another team that has struggled coming out of the All-Star break after a fantastic first half of the season. Tampa Bay has all the potential in the world and plenty of resources to make a deep run in the playoffs this season as long as they remain consistent and healthy. I expect them to bounce back and grab another victory here on Tuesday afternoon at home against Miami.

New York Mets @ New York Yankees – 7:05PM ET

The New York Mets have had a rough season up until this point, and they were projected to be one of the best teams in baseball, which makes it even more difficult. They also have one of the highest payrolls in all of Major League Baseball this season, but the amount spent has not matched the production on the field, and they are far from playoff contention in the National League at the moment. They will be hoping to turn things around as they open up the series against their rivals the New York Yankees here on Tuesday night in the Bronx. The Mets come into this game, looking to break their two game losing streak and improve their recent performance after they have lost six out of their last ten on the season.

The New York Yankees had a rough time coming out of the All-Star break as injuries continued to pile up for them. Despite the lack of success for the Mets, it is fair to say that the Yankees might have an even bigger hill to climb as they have to play a much tougher schedule and play in a much harder division, where they have more competition. After a rough stretch, coming out of the break, the Yankees are finally on the upswing as they come into this game on a three game winning streak, and they will be looking to get out of the bottom spot in the American League East, with another victory in the opening game of this series. That is exactly what I expected as I have the New York Yankees grabbing the victory over the New York Mets here on Tuesday night at home.

Seattle Mariners @ Minnesota Twins – 7:40PM ET

The Seattle Mariners will be looking to turn their season around and it starts with a quality performance against Minnesota here on Tuesday night at Target Field. After winning 90+ games in each of the last two seasons, and making a playoff appearance last year Seattle has regressed up until this point of the season. If they do not turn things around quickly, they will not be making the postseason, and it will restart a cycle that lasted nearly two decades without them, making a playoff appearance. Seattle will be looking to bounce back after their loss to Minnesota in extra innings in the opening game of the series on Monday night.

Minnesota has been one of the hottest teams in all of Major League Baseball since coming out of the All-Star break. They currently sit in first place in the American League Central division, and they are extending their lead over Cleveland every single day. They will be looking to avoid the same mistake they made last year where they choked things away at the end of the season because a healthy Minnesota ball club is very capable of making a deep run into the playoffs, especially if they make some moves at the trade deadline. After their victory in extra innings on Monday I expect Minnesota to grab a second consecutive victory in this series on Tuesday night.

Texas Rangers @ Houston Astros – 8:10PM ET

The Texas Rangers are having a fantastic season at the moment and they are sitting in first place in the American League west division ahead of the Houston Astros. They will be looking to extend their lead over the Houston Astros with a victory in the second game of the series here on Tuesday night. They have been one of the better teams in baseball coming out of the All-Star break and they do it with a combination of solid, starting pitching and timely hitting that has propelled them to having one of the best records in the American League. They put up a crooked number on the board in the opening game of the series on Monday night, and I expect more of the same on Tuesday.

The Houston Astros had a sluggish start to the season, but they have picked it up as of late and they have continued their momentum coming out of the All-Star break. They are currently within striking distance of first place in the division as they are only a handful of games behind the Texas Rangers and they will be looking to pick up ground in this series. They are double digit games above .500 at the moment and they will be looking to get hot at the right time as they try to defend their World Series championship coming down the stretch run of the season. Much like Texas, Houston put up a crooked number on the board in the opening game of the series and I expect more of the same on Tuesday night as well.
