Los Angeles Angels @ Philadelphia Phillies – 6:40PM ET

It has been an awful season for the Los Angeles Angels this year and at this point they are just waiting for the season to end. When the season finally doesn’t in the off-season arrived, they will have to deal with trying to retain Shohei Ohtani as he is supposed to hit free agency during this upcoming off-season. With the way they have performed during Ohtani’s stay with the team, that seems increasingly unlikely unless they can convince him to remain in Los Angeles. Otherwise they will likely be entering a massive rebuilding period following his departure, and potentially the departure of Mike Trout as well. They will be looking to bounce back after they lost the opening game of the series to Philadelphia on Monday night.

Philadelphia has been one of the hottest teams in baseball over the last couple of weeks and they kept the momentum rolling in their series opening victory over Los Angeles on Monday night. Now they will be looking to replicate that performance here on Tuesday and secure themselves a series victory before heading into Wednesday afternoon’s finale. Philadelphia currently find themselves occupying the top spot in the National League wildcard race and that is likely how they will finish the season with the way that they have been playing over the past few weeks. I expect them to grab a second consecutive victory over Los Angeles here on Tuesday night as well.

Tampa Bay Rays @ Miami Marlins – 6:40PM ET

It has been a fantastic season from Tampa Bay and they will be looking to keep the momentum rolling when they open up the first game of the series with the Miami Marlins on Tuesday night. They are only a handful of games out of first place in the American League East division, and they will be looking to go on a run coming down the final stretch of the season and regain first place from Baltimore. Tampa Bay comes into this game with 80 victories in their first 132 games of the 2023 major league baseball season and they were still on pace to finish with one of the best records in history if they continue their winning ways. They have picked up eight victories in their last 10 games of the season and they will be looking to grab their third consecutive victory here tonight as well. 

It has been a roller coaster of a season for the Miami Marlins after a successful first half of the year they really hit a wall coming out of the All-Star break. As a lengthy losing streak knocked them out of the top three in the National League wildcard race and they now find themselves on the outside looking in when it comes to qualifying for the postseason. They come into this game barely treading water above the .500 mark as they have picked up 66 victories and 65 losses through the first 131 games of the season. Unfortunately for the Miami Marlins, I don’t see them picking up a victory in the opening game of the series either, as I look for Tampa Bay to grab a comfortable win here on Tuesday night on the road.

San Diego Padres @ St.Louis Cardinals – 7:45PM ET

It has been a rough season for the San Diego Padres and they came into the year with so many expectations, which makes it feel like that much bigger of a failure as well. They were expected to compete to win the National League West division after going all in at the trade deadline last year, and failing to win the World Series like they planned. Well, this season their plans failed again and they have been one of the most disappointing teams in all of Major League Baseball this year. Unless they have some kind of insane winning streak, coming down the final stretch of the season they will likely miss out on the postseason and sell off some players in the off-season. 

You can say similar things about the St. Louis Cardinals this year as well, as they also came into the season with plenty of expectations. However, they now find themselves sitting in last place in the National League Central division, which is arguably one of the worst divisions in all of baseball this season as well. They don’t have much left to play for this year other than their pride, and they will be looking to regroup and reload after selling off several key players at the trade deadline as they are likely heading into a rebuilding period following the year. I expect the San Diego Padres to grab a victory in the battle between these two disappointing teams here on Tuesday night.

Atlanta Braves @ Colorado Rockies – 8:40PM ET

The Atlanta Braves have been one of the best teams in the league and at the moment they look like the favorites to win the National League pennant as well. They will be looking to pick up a victory in this game on Tuesday night in Colorado to further extend their lead in the National League East division and continue their quest to finish with the best record in the National League this season as well. They come into this game on a one game losing streak, but they have picked up seven victories in their last 10 games on the season and they will be looking to pick up the second victory of this series here on Tuesday night in Colorado, after grabbing a multi run victory in the opening game on Monday. 

It has been a long year for the Colorado Rockies and what is likely the beginning of a long and lengthy rebuilding process as well. The Colorado Rockies have been one of the worst teams in all of baseball this season and it seems very likely that they will lose over 100 games this year. After losing the opening game of their series to Atlanta on Monday night, they will be looking to bounce back here on Tuesday to even up the series before heading into the finale on Wednesday at home. Unfortunately for the Colorado Rockies, I don’t see that happening as I look for the Atlanta Braves to pick up a second consecutive victory here on Tuesday night to officially clinch the series.

Oakland Athletics @ Seattle Mariners – 9:40PM ET

There is not much they can be said about the Oakland Athletics season other than how awful it has been for them this year. They are on pace to lose well over 100 games and they will easily become the first team in the league this season to lose triple digit games as well. Off of the baseball field, they are on the verge of moving away from their longtime home in the bay area all the way to Las Vegas following the trajectory of the former Oakland Raiders, who now reside in Las Vegas as well. Regardless of what happens between tonight’s game in the remainder of the year it does not seem like it’s going to get much better for Oakland, and at this point they are likely just praying for the regular season to finally come to an end.

The Seattle Mariners have been one of the hottest teams in all of baseball over the last two weeks, and they have played themselves all the way into first place of the American League West division. They will be looking to keep up their hot run of play as they look to pick up a victory over the Oakland Athletics here on Tuesday night at T-Mobile Park in Seattle. Seattle comes into this game with a record of 74-56 through the first 130 games of the 2023 Major League Baseball season. They are on pace to pick up their third consecutive 90 wins season. As long as they grab 15 more victories before 17 more losses come their way as well. I expect them to grab one of those victories here tonight against Oakland as I have the Mariners getting a comfortable win here on Tuesday night.
